Jones Beach Ironman 70.3 (Take 2) 2026

Swim. Bike. Run.
Mind. Body. Heart.

Swim. Mind. The thoughts race through my head. Can I actually do this? The water is cold. The air is colder. I can’t control my breath but I know I need to find a way to. Bit by bit, piece by piece, I make my way through the swim. I settle as well as I can but not fully in my body yet. As I push out of the water, my brain begins coaching me on how to settle into my body. The things I need to do to regulate my body temperature so I can keep moving forward.

Bike. Body. The hardest part is behind me. It’s no longer a question of if I can finish, I will finish. I find my rhythm and I remember why I set out to do this. This was a love letter to my body. A love letter for what my body can do, experience, feel, and accomplish. How lucky am I that I get to live this little life and feel it all so largely?

Run. Heart. My home. As I found my way to my feet, my brain cleared giving peace to my mind and body. There is the steady beat of my feet hitting the ground that reminds me of all the people that carried me to the start line and those who helped me get through this race. There are too many people to thank but, all I can feel is immense gratitude and love. I am surrounded by the best people. This is the victory lap.

Jones Beach Ironman 70.3 2026. This journey challenged me in more ways than I can count and taught me an immense amount. All that is left to say is thank you. Thank you to my support system, my community, and of course, my body. Just thank you. by @frischaj

This marathon was unlike any other marathon I have run before. Getting here, I had some great runs and some runs I would like to never experience again. I got strep in the middle of training. And then, two weeks before the marathon, I got a pinched nerve in my back and I wasn’t sure that I was going to be able to even run this. Let alone do it in drag. After some doctor's appointments, an MRI, and some medication, I got a call on the Thursday before race day clearing me to run. I knew I had to change all my expectations of what my race would like to ensure that I would still take care of my body. Getting to this day was a culmination of so many little moments.

Moments - oh how I love my moments. Nikki Lodeon came to me one moment on a run as did the idea of running this marathon as Nikki. Since running inspires me creatively, it only felt right to bring Nikki to one of the greatest stages in the world. Also, when hearing so much anti-lgbtq rhetoric in the news it made the decision to run in drag that much easier. Running this in drag was a marathon in of itself but, this is only half the “story” (more to come on that with time).

Much like Nikki’s story and this weekend's race, marathons represent so much of life. We are all running a marathon of sorts. Running to fight for equal rights. Running to highs and hitting some lows. Running to experience life. All of it takes time. Eventually, you will get to one of those coveted euphoric race days when there is so much to celebrate and be proud of all the while still learning so much. Then after it is over, the disbelief that this was something you accomplished will linger in the air while reveling in such a massive win.

Marathon day was a surreal day and it was nothing short of spectacular. It all served as a great reminder that… Drag is Art. Representation matters. Sometimes all you can do is take it one step at a time. A drag queen can run a marathon. Life is a marathon. This moment in life was a great mile with a lot of highs and ya, some lows. But, my marathon is still just beginning. So, why don’t you lace up those shoes and join me, even if it might just be for a moment?
