01 — Materia Serena
Verdes apagados, arena y negro.

Azul, turquesa, rosa, amarillo y rojo.

ESCANEO 3D - HORNED HELMET
Período: 1512
Artista: Konrad Seusenhofer
ubicación: Royal Armouries Museum
Dimensiones: 485 mm 335 mm 370 mm
Modelado 3D: escaneado
Escáner: Creaform Go!SCAN 3D

Probably the most recognisable object in the Royal Armouries' collections is the 'horned helmet' of Henry VIII. The helmet is notable for its grotesque mask, its brass spectacles supported by a hooked and dripping nose, and for its ram's horns. For five centuries its extraordinary features have stimulated the great scholarly debate.

A 'headpiece with a ram's horn', was listed among Henry VIII's possessions after his death. Recent research suggests that the mask compares closely with the face of the "Schellenunter", or "Knave of Bells", a 'fool' on a playing card designed by Peter Flötner, a 16th-century German artist famous for drawing grotesque characters. This figure has the same close-fitting hood, hooked and dripping nose, stubbly chin and 'rivet' spectacles. The presence of horns, however, remains a subject of debate.

In 1511, two years after Henry became king, Maximilian I, the Holy Roman Emperor, commissioned his armourer, Konrad Seusenhofer, to make an armour decorated with gilded silver panels as a diplomatic gift for Henry. But many scholars believe it is unlikely that Maximilian would have sent Henry such a helmet since horns were so often regarded as the sign of a cuckold. taken in Royal Armouries by @fritostudio_
