The plants coming in from the nurseries are really beautiful this fall, so full from the heavy rains, and the masonry work has been overly hot all summer, finally cooling down. We are in the mid-September golden hour, a wonderful time of the year, the light grows softer.

It’s Monday! Chinking and hammering away on the masonry. The cicadas singing their fall song and the best time for planting full gardens is here with the lunar eclipse of a Sturgeon Full Moon this Thursday. No glasses needed. @fritzgignoux @serrastonecorp @fineearthlandscape by @fritzgignoux

Finishing building a lovely pool cottage, we converted the unused garage. It overlooks a Caribbean blue pool, masonry and gardens which we designed for Mike and Shaun. Mixed in is the daily construction and the beauty on the other side.

In the ever changing garden, our June summer color is pink. Soon enough that color will change to a purple- blue and then mauve in fall.

We have traveled the world in search of great gardens. Here in Granada, Spain, the Alhambra and Generalife, masterpieces of Moorish architecture and garden design will forever hold sway on our translations of art and nature.

Happy New Year to all! Thinking of gardens like we think of books and our natural world, brings us to a fine and delicate beauty. One that settles and restores us. These threads which hold together our world’s most beautiful poems and paintings are held together by the most resilient threads, for they are threads which have been inspired by the beauty and rawness of nature around us. It is in the telling of these wonderful stories that gardens often find a center stage, they provide a framework that enables us to understand the mystery before us. So storytellers, painters and gardeners continue on with the quest, the adventure that comes from experiencing the everyday in the great outdoors. Thank you and Cheers❤️

There is always so much to see and do in the fall, that is when the garden is at its apex, and when it is most inspiring here on the East Coast. It is during this marvelous period in the fall that many of us draw our big inspiration that carries us through the winter to the spring. So store those big ideas like seeds and dream away and then make it happen. Happy Thanksgiving!!

Time moves through the garden at a breakneck pace during the growing season and in the fleeting moments, a garden captures a remarkable story, a vignette, a feeling much like a timeless painting, poem or piece of music. Here in these photos are scenes from a handful of story filled gardens. Where would we be without the beauty and healing components that gardens and nature give us.
