I love #philly by @fritzpup1833

Pink flowers left by a colleague on my behalf, on her recent visit to Vienna. Not a day goes by that I don’t thank Brahms for having made my life as a musician possible. 🙏 #brahms by @fritzpup1833

Another extraordinary dinner at @chefgangnyc and on his birthday, no less. There were a couple more nigiri, I forgot to take pictures. Chef Gang is a very humble artist, and his food is extraordinary. His restaurant Kobashi will open in late March. So excited and happy for him and his great staff! おめでとうございます by @fritzpup1833

The great, great, @nick.canellakis_cellist and @michael_stephen_brown performed at my college @queensboroughcc_cuny yesterday. We invited them not just because they are supremely talented and brilliant musicians, but also because his father, Martin Cannelakis, was a full time professor at QCC from the 1970’s through the 1990’s, leading the Queensborough Orchestra as its incredible conductor. I met Martin when I started in 1997. Nick’s mom Sheryl also taught piano part time. Nick (as well as his sister @karina.canellakis) played concertos with the orchestra many times as teenagers. It was a great homecoming for Nick, and a new venue and new piano for Michael to experience (which, naturally, he transformed into the most sublime instrument imaginable). They played beautifully, of course, but what was most moving was the impact they had on our music students. Most of them had never in their lives attended a concert by performers at this level of artistry and accomplishment, and they were blown away. In my music history class a few hours later, they could not stop talking about the event. Nick and Michael changed some lives yesterday, and it was beautiful to witness. Thank you, Nick and Michael! 👏 ❤️ by @fritzpup1833

This is love. György Kurtág and his wife of over 60 years, the great pianist and teacher Martá Kinsker Kurtág (d. 17 Oct 2019, r.i.p. 🙏) performing Kurtág’s arrangement of Bach’s “Actus Tragicus,” BWV 106. https://youtu.be/O85lwrca-_c?si=wiK580x6SiabaZXF Kurtág turns 100 on Feb. 19. Happy birthday, Maestro! Celebrate at Alice Tully Hall with a performance on his birthday on Thursday: The New Series | AXIOM: Kurtág @ 100. Also featured is a performance of a new work by Juilliard student composer Vincent Zhang. This will be a great event!
