Roughly 2 years ago, I started my journey to become a Georgia Smoke Diver. A 6 Day, 60-hour course that is so physically and mentally demanding that it can not be put into words. I qualified as an alternate, and a month prior, I got the call that I was in class 64. Out of the 44 candidates, 15 of us crossed the finish line. Every night being battered and bruised, the fear of not being able to make it had me in a dark place and terrified I was going to have to go home. But I kept going until the end. I've never experienced or done anything this hard, mentally, physically, or emotionally. But if it was all up to me, I never would have completed it. My strength came from the one who dwells inside of me who conquered all things before me, my immediate support team who saw me struggle and change over the last 2 years, the brotherhood in the fire service who believed in me when I didn't believe in myself and class 64 who banded together to achieve something greater then themselves. I could never begin to thank everyone enough for all the help and support during this journey but know I am forever grateful.
