Presenting the VRMN unit leader VR-01 - my cyberpunk OC I created for @kokorocon_uk last weekend! Just in case you thought the rat obsession stopped at my weird lil skaven guys.

Vinyls were kindly cut by @screenqueencosplay and the outfit was heavily inspired by Shadowrun and Bubblegum Crisis era anime. As for the unit name and markings well you can probably guess 👀

Now, back to painting little rat guys!

Now it's all done and handed in I can share what I was up to - my submission to the @elementgames_ng Xmas painting comp! Wanted to try something new and had been inspired by on-sprue shadowbox painting, super super happy with how it came out. Swipe for closeups...

Using the actual box was something of a last minute bolt of inspiration as I was planning on cutting parts from it for a new one. Turns out the sprue and packaging centers old Grombrindal rather neatly! Some ruler marks and a sharp knife later and I had a neat display for him.

Looking forward to seeing all the other entrants when next in town, I do like the window displays with so many cool minis in them.

First ever order from @pinku.kult just arrived, so of course rat themed goods need checking over by one of our boys!

Vogel confirmed that the gear is not only really nicely printed but also super warm and fits really well! Looking forward to wearing it out (me, not him).

And so did the Friday of kick off.

An extremely heartfelt opening ceremony by Jonty marked EMF officially starting, though of course a couple thousand makers and hackers had already made a start the day before and the org team had been on site for a week!

Also - design team yet again absolutely nailed the colours and backdrops and branding.

This might be the hottest EMF ever, so hat and hydration were paramount along with ungodly levels of suncream.

You will notice the tape branding, I started doing it a couple events ago but usually on my jacket. It was too hot for jacket.

Also if you're like me and wear too much black go get cyberdog t-shirts, they're designed to be raved and sweated in so work quite well.

EMF - the only time you'll see a longer queue for the coffee than the toilets & showers in a morning.

However @coffeevgbd once again brought fantastic coffee to the field, and the iced lattes literally got me through the afternoons.

It's a rover. A rover. Because it's a rove- nevermind.

The curry food stand did samosas with chickpea curry. Of course adding spicy food to heat is a good idea why wouldn't it be.

Possibly the most satisfying installation to interact with - a sand demonstration on a flipdot display. The audio of the display rippling between black and yellow while moving the gravity was genuinely satisfying.

Someone was wandering around with a handheld one and I made the mistake of asking how much it cost while holding it. Those little flip dot units? Not cheap. And not cheap each.

Totally worth it though.

Accessibility at EMF is amazing but I'm northern and excitable when on a mic, and no caption software on earth is succeeding with that combo.

I'd like to confirm the attendees of Stage B did *not* return 15 minutes later with mortars or other indirect fire artillery.

Oh yeah I actually remembered to make an advert for PowerPoint karaoke this year.

And so on the Thursday did the journey to #EMFCamp begin. Myself, my copilot Stikkit, and a tent awaiting me at decathlon after discovering I didn't own one *the night before*

Driving a mech looking EV with Evangelion decals and a techwear OC helm on the passenger headrest is definitely one of the more nerdy ways to get to an event I will admit, but this is EMF after all.

After a couple of hours I arrived, got my wristband and set up my tent. Of course the EMF bunting had to go on it.

A few highlights from the evening included:
- Damn fine pizza
- Red Alert ducks
- Every live show's worst nightmare (YA CONTROLLER DIES) during The Dark Room
- Relaxing with a lovely pint in the robot arms.

Pictures of #emfcamp will be appearing over the coming days, now I have finally got my act together and sorted albums!

Suffice to say: it was amazing as always, a much needed break, some genuinely touching moments, and filled me with ideas a-plenty come 2028. by @froggymakes

Black and white on the camera does make spotting interesting lighting a bit easier, but definitely some more practice to go here.

Oh and our local forest is 100% full of Fae entrances. Too many odd trees and weird path splits not to be.
