FACES IN MOTION / 01 SERGEY BOGOMOLOV & SOFYA BUGAEVA Metz, France — July 2026 Sergey (@bogomo_love) is one of my oldest friends. We have known each other for more than fifteen years, stayed close, and continued to work on projects together. In July, in the middle of a heatwave, I came to Metz to spend a few days with Sergey and Sofya. There was the magnificent cathedral — one of the largest Gothic buildings in Europe, which I somehow hadn’t known — long walks, a lovely dinner at Bouillon, and many conversations. And, of course, GTA V, which Sergey and Sofya introduced me to. Thank you both for having me. Today is Sergey’s birthday. Sergey, take care of your leather coat — and don’t cry. FACES IN MOTION This was my first exhibition in Europe — and, more specifically, in Berlin, a city that has already become home to me. The exhibition was presented at Komische Oper Berlin as part of the KIRILL & FRIENDS BERLIN FESTIVAL, which took place from 4 to 13 September 2026. I am deeply grateful to Kirill Serebrennikov(@kirillserebrennikov) and KIRILL & FRIENDS(@kirillandfriends_ ) for accepting my idea and helping it take shape. Together, we developed a portrait gallery of people connected to my life and to the company’s work over the past three years. We often think that a place creates relationships between people. But perhaps it is the relationships between people that create a place. During these years of movement, cities gradually blurred, while the people connected to them remained. These photographs preserve not a complete image of a city, but the connection between a person and a place. The entire project was realised in just ten weeks. During that time, we organised all the travel and production, photographed 77 people, completed the post-production and fine-art printing, and assembled the exhibition on site. It was an enormous challenge. The fact that we managed to complete it within such demanding conditions was possible above all thanks to the curator of the exhibition — my wife, Ekaterina Podlesnaia. This series will continue. It may eventually take shape as a new version of the exhibition, and I also plan to publish photographs from the series here, on this page. Earlier this spring, I had the pleasure of photographing the world premiere of Codeborn by Zara Ali (@z__a__r__a.wav) at the Münchener Biennale (@muenchenerbiennale) in Munich. From 4 to 13 September, Frol Podlesnyi’s @frolme photo exhibition FACES IN MOTION was presented at Komische Oper Berlin as part of KIRILL & FRIENDS BERLIN FESTIVAL. The project explores how people shape the way we experience a place — and how, through encounters, connections and shared memories, an unfamiliar space can gradually become our own. On the final day of the festival, the exhibition came to the most natural kind of ending: we took it down together, turning the dismantling into a small closing action of its own. The photographs left the theatre walls and went home with us. A joyful ending — and perhaps another way for these faces, encounters and places to keep moving. LEGENDE. Memories. More than two years ago, LEGENDE had its world premiere at the Ruhrtriennale in Duisburg. I photographed the production there, and later in Hamburg. Today I am sharing some photographs from that time that I have never published before. I simply wanted to return to these memories and keep them here, on my page. Sharing a series of images I created in Iceland for Richard Wagner’s “Das Rheingold”. We travelled there to film material for the production, with performer @goshakudrenko as Alberich, facing the wind, rain, and raw landscapes of Iceland. A key task was to find a sense of post-apocalypse within this overwhelming landscape. We travelled across the island, searching for the feeling of a devastated, broken land and fragments of a lost civilisation. These conditions became part of the process and shaped the visual language of the project. Special thanks to @kirillandfriends_ and everyone who shared this journey with me. Заканчивается 2025 год, и я даже не могу до конца осознать, насколько он был невероятный и удивительный. Сейчас будет короткая публичная самотерапия. Так сложилось, что мне всегда было непросто находиться в настоящем. Миграция, в особенности, усилила этот психологический баг — первые два года я вообще не понимал, что происходит. Да и вообще, жизнь вопреки — тот паттерн, от которого довольно сложно отделаться. В cостоявшемся году я могу наконец сказать, что начал движение в новом эмоциональном направлении. Не вопреки и не потом — вот сейчас, в этом году, это происходит, и нужно наконец-то прекращать общаться с собой из прошлого, а находить себя в настоящем. Не знаю, как долго ещё буду пребывать в пограничных психологических состояниях, но я невероятно благодарен этому году за всё. В особенности — за тех людей, с кем его разделил. Возвращаясь к удивительному: десятки поездов и самолётов. Почти два месяца в этом году я провёл в Дюссельдорфе, три недели — в Зальцбурге, неделя — в Умбрии, десять дней — в Кишинёве, пять дней — в Белграде, три дня — в Праге, неделя — в Тбилиси, три дня — в Торуне, неделя — в Исландии, два дня — в Амстердаме, день — в Мюнхене, три дня — в Гамбурге, неделя — в Риге, два месяца — в Париже… Вот такой насыщенный на проекты год. И как приятно быть соучастником этих событий. Да, чуть не забыл, в этом году внезапно вернулся к беговым практикам и пробежал свой первый марафон и сразу Major в Берлине (говорят это кризис среднего возраста). Я до сих пор не понимаю, как нужно вести Instagram, поэтому буду просто выкладывать что-то уже. by @frolme

Ну вот, прошёл ещё один год в миграции — какое-то беспросветное количество событий, встреч, факапов/успехов, депрессии/рефлексии — и вновь, опять по кругу. Но моя страница в Инстаграме честно держит позицию молчания по отношению к происходящему: ни одного поста за 365 дней. Невыносимая стойкость бытия. «CREMULATOR» Is the first production of Sasha Filipenko's novel of the same name, written on the basis of interrogation documents of the director of the first crematorium in the USSR. It is the story of Peter Nesterenko, a White Guard pilot-officer who, after a long ordeal of emigration in the early 20th century, makes a deal with the Soviets and returns to his homeland. It is a story of forging and choosing one's truth, of its burning and blotting out of several generations, of emigration and the war of the last century; of Vera and a great love that means nothing if its devoted audience is a tyrant.
