Growing up, I never truly thrived in community settings. A lone wolf—that’s what I identified with, and eventually even became my nickname. I walked alone. I found my own problems, and I solved them alone. Partnership, for that reason, has always been one of my greatest challenges.

In recent years, I made a habit of isolating myself without explanation. Not with my partner. Not with friends. Not with family. My silence was constantly criticized—people telling me I was running from my problems instead of communicating. But in the moment, their words only pushed me deeper into anger. I’d go quiet, and while on the outside it looked like avoidance, internally it was two things at once:
• A flood of thoughts I refused to release because they would’ve come out sharp, emotional, and destructive.
• A period of deep analysis, questioning, and reflection.

And through that reflection, I began to notice a pattern in myself—what I choose to walk away from, and what I choose to see through, always comes down to one thing: accountability.

I was raised to take accountability for what I do, what I think, and what I say. Yet some forms of accountability are harder than others—especially when the only person you’re hurting is yourself.

Since January, my silence has grown heavier. Even though I’ve always been soft-spoken, this quietness felt different. Unsettling. I couldn’t name it until today.

Knowledge of Self

Not knowledge of family. Not knowledge of friends. Not knowledge of how to be a better partner, worker, or supporter. But knowledge of me.

I had spent so much time analyzing the people and world around me that I forgot to turn that same analysis inward. I forgot to nurture the most important relationship of all—the one I have with myself.

And so, while growth, service, and love are all necessary parts of life, I now understand this: don’t get tangled in the affairs of what’s happening outside of you. Because in truth, everything begins with you. by @fromcir

Been quiet from the outside looking in, but inside looking out—I just left an exquisitely outlandish party.

I couldn’t tell you how long it lasted, but I can tell you that there were some good times.

Drinks were present
Shrooms said Hi
Clothes disappeared
Paint was everywhere
Words were scattered
Food was gone

It was a fantastic night to remember and you would’ve thought it was a houseful.

But it was me.
And my imagination.

In a studio that held all of my secrets, ideas, truths, and troubles.

We all found harmony from one drink
That led to a blunt
That led to painting.

Then I had some shrooms
Which made me hungry
And that led to playing music while placing canvases in any spot a mess could catch.

Then after I wrapped some crystals
Which led to me feeling ground
Which led to me grabbing a big ass mirror and placing it against where light hit the best.

From there, as I stood feeling maybe too elevated since I forgot I actually existed

I stood butt ass naked and had a rap battle with myself until…

I’m always hearing talk about “in a perfect world” so I’m here to let you know:

My world is a perfect world.
I talk to who I choose
Ignore who I choose
Love who I choose.

Me vs. you and I’ll choose me every time.
Coming at me w the bullshit gone make ya mind rip
Knowing I see through you and ya flip ass attitude so don’t start with me bc I’m not trynna be rude.

However; I do also have a lil attitude underneath a bright smile and high energy mixed with inner G so again, don’t go pushing buttons because who knows what my limit might be.

Keep it “love and light” or whatever suits the hippie type
While I remain to do me and stay in my own spotlight.

A woman. a woman who has navigated her way thanks to the guidance of wisdom as she learned what to do and what not to do. I can learn through you, but my own experiences have been my biggest teachers as I write my stories with pens that don’t smear or bleed. Forced to accept the consequences of each letter written on the pages of my book turned movie. You remember the lesson when you write them down, right? You learn better through repetition, right? Each mistake had to be accepted as a lesson being repeated until I understood, regardless of the pain or heartache, there’s always potential to build.

So for me, a woman who has had to destroy time and time again, making room for nourished land to grow proper foods which shall result in a womb so full of life, every sacrifice suddenly becomes more worthwhile than ever recognized.

A woman. Reconnected with love that never left —only forced away, because as a woman, my love is forever here to stay. The resilience of a black woman keeps the world spinning. And my strength will give birth to the strongest soldiers and warriors. In time, we’ll have created an entire universe equipped with the purest blood.
