Sometimes third spaces are inside first spaces!
Tonight Em is celebrating the release of her debut album Phases with a live show at The Apartment (202 K Road).

The Apartment is a space run by local sound engineer extraordinaire Bob Frisbee inside his home and recording studio. Many iconic local indie releases have been recorded in that space, and albums have been launched in the lounge turned mini music venue.

We asked Tāmaki indie music stalwart Bob Frisbee why he believes music venues are important third spaces.

Tonight! Phases by Em Vinyl Release Show
The Apartment
Tickets $15

What makes music venues a Third Space for you?

Karangahape Rd indie music legend Bob Frisbee

“NoiseFloor is definitely a bit of a Third Space for a diverse Karangahape Road based
music scene (based around
myself, The Beths, Princess Chelsea and the Dream
Warriors, Joe Kaptein, Skilaa, Phoebe Rings, Exploding Rainbow Orchestra, Bub, The Situations...) so I opened
The Apartment as a fun, flexible way of showcasing that talent.”

“There’s no money in it (like most music venues) so it helps to have a VERY supportive landlord (unlike most music venues!) “

Now a full time member of the orchestra, Rāhana’s mesmeric Rangatuone conduction is like nothing we’ve ever seen. Here he is to tell us about it! by @fromthenoisefloor
