As the World Cup arrives in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada this month, each of the tournament-record 48 teams is settling into its selected home base of a paired training facility and hotel. Some are moving into professional soccer training centers. Others are setting up shop at colleges and universities.Four top teams—FIFA-ranked No. 2 Spain, No. 8 Morocco, No. 11 Croatia, and No. 19 Switzerland—chose elementary and high schools. Some of the schools already operate a side business as training sites for clubs playing nearby, and FIFA’s multi-week rental fee adds a big additional revenue stream. FIFA hasn’t been open about its facilities rental fees, and most schools declined to share specifics. But the schools are likely being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars each to let a national team take over their campus this summer.More in bio. by @frontofficesports

Georgia and Nebraska have reportedly decided to boycott Texas Tech after Brendan Sorsby was deemed eligible by a Lubbock judge despite admitting to betting on sports.ADs at both schools have instructed their departments to not schedule Texas Tech in any sport. On Monday, a local judge in Texas granted an injunction to allow Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby to play next season despite years of gambling activity, including placing bets on his own team, that ended with him entering in-patient treatment for gambling addiction. The ruling is just the latest in a string of cases where players have asked local judges to give them NCAA eligibility. But it marked the first time a judge has forced a league to allow a player to participate despite engaging in gambling activity. While the ruling doesn’t set a nationwide precedent, it could be cited in future arguments for other players across the country. The NCAA has already filed a notice of appeal, per documents obtained by Front Office Sports on Monday night. But the ruling sent shockwaves across the industry—and as a result, some schools may be taking matters into their own hands.Story in bio. by @frontofficesports

Stephen A. Smith called out President Trump for appearing to sleep during Game 3 of the NBA Finals.“Go online, look at the videos. I’m not going to accuse him of snoring because I wasn’t in earshot. But the brother wasn’t awake,” Smith said. “If it was that important for you to be there, why did you look like you were asleep? Didn’t you call our former president Joe Biden, Sleepy Joe? Well, what should we call you? ’Cause you weren’t awake.”Smith’s roast of Trump was in response to Trump taking a shot at the ESPN star after he said he would blame the president if the Knicks lost with him in attendance, which they did.“I think he’s a nice guy. But you need a certain aptitude to run for president,” Trump told reporters as he prepared to depart Manhattan following the Spurs’ 115–111 Game 3 victory. “You need a high IQ. I’m not sure that Stephen has that. I don’t think he does, actually.”Smith also noted that Trump’s attendance led to a significant increase in security, including the cancellation of fan watch parties outside of Madison Square Garden. To that end, New York City police commissioner Jessica Tisch said during a press conference Monday that the watch parties are expected to return for Game 4 on Wednesday, seemingly indicating Trump won’t be in attendance.“It’s clear you need your rest, isn’t it?” Smith said. “The New York Knicks need it, too. Give New Yorkers a break. Stay at the White House, go to Mar-a-Lago. Go to Bedminster. Do whatever it is that you gotta do. Just stay the hell away from the New York Knicks for the rest of this series. Pretty please, with sugar on top.”More in bio. by @frontofficesports

Josh Allen is the new top-selling player in the NFL, taking the top spot from Saquon Barkley, according to the NFLPA's 2026 Player Sales list.Drake Maye finished second while Barkley was third. Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jayden Daniels rounded out the top five. The rankings encompass jersey sales, t-shirts, bobbleheads, backpacks, and figurines, among other items, and differ from the $17.7 million Shedeur Sanders banked in group licensing income. Sanders was No. 31 on the top-50 list. The list accounts for the league’s top retail performers based on sales of officially licensed products during the league year from March 1, 2025 to Feb. 28, 2026. Full list and story in bio. by @frontofficesports
