Month of August is only half way done folks! 29 more kilometres to meet my goal. But I wonโ€™t stop there. Iโ€™ve surpassed my initial goal of $500 raised, but it doesnโ€™t have to stop there. Sitting at $729, Iโ€™m now shooting for $1000 raised. Help me raise funds for cancer research for children. Do you remember being a kid playing outdoors, riding your bike, going to the lake or nearest local pool, going to the park? Well letโ€™s give kids fighting cancer a chance to experience that, they should be kids not fighting for their lives. With your help we can make that a reality. In the vast expanse of space we chase the light, even in the darkest voids. ๐Ÿ–ค . . . Still learning how to shoot astrophotography, this was my first attempt last night at the Milky Way and The Big Dipper (aka Ursa Major constellation). Learning about photography has helped me slow down and observe the world around me. Whilst learning about astrophotography โœจ๐Ÿ“ธ and astronomy ๐Ÿ”ญ has helped me realize just how small my problems really are. . The Milky Way is our galaxy, itโ€™s a barred spiral galaxy and it has over 100-400 billion stars, itโ€™s comprised of stars, gas, dust, dark matter, and planets. Our solar system sits at about 27,000 light years from its galactic centre on a spiral arm called the Orion Spur. . As for the Ursa Major, its comprised of 7 different designation, 2 of which (Mizar and Dubhe) are multiple system, while the 5 other designations are single stars. . Truly fascinating stuff when you stop and think about it for a moment. . . Cheers! Hope you enjoy.๐Ÿ˜Š #constellations #astrophotography #milkywaygalaxy #wearespecsofdust #sonya6700 taken in Milky Way Galaxy by @frostejayy

From blazing hot days, blue hour sunsets, raging thunderstorms, cumulonimbus storm clouds and tornado alertsโ€ผ๏ธ . . . . The power of Mother Nature has always left me in awe. Hoping everyone is safe and prepared going into this season. I suspect itโ€™s going to be a rough one. We keep pushing the limits of this beautiful planet and itโ€™s about to show us whoโ€™s been here longest. Be one with nature, the true powers that be and we could live harmoniously in unison. โ˜ฎ๏ธ๐ŸŒŽ . . . . #mothernaturespower #earthcamefirst #photography #natureisbeautiful #sonya6700 taken in Mother Earth by @frostejayy

Little collection of photos on my day trip, learning how to improvise with my polarized sunglasses to remove glare and boost vibrancy of colours. I think I captured some dreamy-esque vibes. I think I need to invest in a true ND/CPL filter haha I also need a lens that has better performance in low light. Hope you enjoy! ๐Ÿ˜ŠโœŒ๐Ÿป . . . . . . #dreamyphotography #cloudphotography #chasethelight #darkmoody #sonya6700 taken in ๏ผค๏ผฒ๏ผฅ๏ผก๏ผญ ๏ผท๏ผฏ๏ผฒ๏ผฌ๏ผค by @frostejayy

Twilight skies after sunset. . . Such an interesting phenomenon happens when the sun is setting and the light reflects through atmospheric particles. Light is scattered through particles in the atmosphere which affect the wavelengths of light we see making up the stunningly colourful sky. The phenomenon is called Rayleigh Scattering. . . * Violet light is scattered the most. * Blue light is scattered a lot. * Green light is scattered moderately. * Yellow and orange light are scattered less. * Red light is scattered the least. . . Purples and pinks are mixing of light reflecting off of clouds and can also bounce off aerosols, dust, smoke and water droplets. (called Mie Scattering) . . Fascinating! ๐Ÿง๐Ÿ˜ #twilightsky #rayleighscattering #lightwavelengths #bluehourphotography #sonya6700 taken in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada by @frostejayy

The sun was displaying a very cool phenomenon today. . . This effect is called the 22ยฐ Halo. (22-degree halo) This happens when light from the sun passes through tiny hexagonal ice crystals typically form high-altitude cirrus/cirrostratus clouds. These clouds can contain countless amounts of microscopic hexagonal ice crystals. It all happens when the light from the sun enters one side of the crystals and bends the light refracting it at a minimum 22ยฐ degree angle. . The halo usually contains a red inner ring and a bluish/whitish outer ring. This happens because red bends the light slightly less and blue/violet bend the light slightly more. . . Life is full of fascinating phenomena when we take the time to observe and learn. . . . . #22degreehalo #sunphotography #phenomenon #sonya6700 #lovescience taken in Sky by @frostejayy
