This year’s music production camp invited students from across the country for our largest summer yet. With two weeks of programming and a new electronic music ensemble, our music production camp brought a lot of musical opportunities to our students to explore beat making, recording, mixing, and electronic instruments.

The first of our final concerts on July 17th was the Instrumental Intensive: Orchestra and Chamber. Students performed in a variety of ensemble settings, including piano duets, chamber ensembles, and orchestra.

A highlight of the FSE Jazz Instrumental Intensive is daily big band rehearsal! 🎷Students were immersed in big band repertoire through daily rehearsals, deep listening, and sectionals. Along with 4 small combos, the big band performed a dynamic set of old and new big band repertoire at the end of the week.

The July sessions of the Frost Summer Experience, powered by the Frost Preparatory Program, brought hundreds of talented youth and adult students to the Frost School of Music for 2 weeks of musical growth and mentorship.

Our camps ranged in genre from chamber music to popular music and jazz, and the best moment was watching our campers shine on stage.

Each summer, our Instrumental Intensive campers study chamber music repertoire with guidance from our esteemed faculty. With ensembles including string quartets, piano trios, and even a flute choir, our concert was filled with wonder.

And with that, the 2026 Frost Summer Experience comes to an end. We had a total of 9 camps this year, making this year our biggest yet. We’re grateful for all the memories made this summer and can’t wait for Frost Summer Experience 2027!

This past week, high school students from Florida and beyond joined the Frost Summer Experience! This year was the inaugural year for the choir’s involvement, and it was a massive success. Organized by Dr. Reid Masters, students learned and performed a full concert in just five short days, bonded as an ensemble, and learned from professionals in various interest sessions. Each student brought incredible talent and heartfelt determination to the table—we could not be more proud of them! Congratulations all on a successful week! taken in Frost School of Music at the University of Miami by @frostsummerxp

I’ve been booked & busy the last few weeks with the @frostsummerxp 🤩💚🧡
I feel honored to work with the Instrumental Intensive’s first group of flute students . Every day, I led technique classes, masterclasses, lessons, and the camp’s very first flute choir!! I had so much fun working closely with such a lovely group of students from Shanghai in addition to all of the other campers, staff, and faculty! Big shout out to the folks over at @frostprepprogram for helping make all of this happen! And most of all, congratulations to ALL of the students that have participated over the last four weeks of camps—YOU are all amazing!!!

P.S. thanks to @izzitakespictures for the action shots! taken in Frost School of Music at the University of Miami by @frostsummerxp

Reflecting on a beautiful week full of full-circle moments at this year’s @frostsummerxp Jazz Instrumental Intensive… 💚🧡

This year marked my first year being on the faculty at this camp, and it was such an honor and privilege working with these fine young musicians every day. This week was filled with fun and joy all around, and seeing these students share their passion for jazz with each other makes my heart full.

In addition to teaching an improv class and directing a stellar combo, I also was given the opportunity to write an original composition for the big band and conduct it at the concert. I’m so proud of my combo and all the energy they brought on stage with their performance with only 3 days of rehearsal, and I loved working with the big band all week on my newest composition “A Hole in the Glass Sky,” a reminder for us all to embrace our true selves and accept others for who they are.

Thank you to all the campers for bringing their passion, energy, and musicality the entire week! Your passion for jazz reminds me of why I do what I do, and I’m so grateful.
