Splitboard Deeper course Day 1. We started the day with riding the boards and bindings and getting used to them. Does a splitboard ride like a proper snowboard at all? After riding some great snow, buttering, straightlining, and a few drops, the answer was a clear yes! We were blessed with some really nice conditions on the @kitzsteinhorn_official glacier.

After the break, it was time to practice changing modes and learning how to climb with the skis and skins. Different kickturns variations were practiced, everything still in close vicinity of the resort where we climbed to our first summit.

We had a nice little adventure climbing and riding this steep line. Snow was not great, but being out there together climbing and riding was what it’s all about. The original plan was to ride an even smaller couloir, but the lack of snow made us change our plans. It’s mid February, so let’s see what this season will still bring!

Same spot as 4 years ago, new line. The first line was more direct, this one to the riders right side. Off-camber steep solid rock. I love riding sections like this and try and be creative with the mountain. With time, new and different solutions come. It’s so cool when a plan works. And riding the ebike here was not limiting at all.

Back on the north side of Lake Garda again. Had a splendid weekend with some many great people in the south. First time. Gravel bike. Wine. Memories. ❤️

Reconnaissance for a bigger, longer, and higher bike project. What most likely once used to be a clear path, now is not that obvious anymore. Good to know what will be expecting me. I love it when disciplines meet: high alpine, scrambling, glacier travel, and riding a bike!!

If anyone is interested to join me, please DM me.

Riding down below "König Ortler". This project has been on my list now for several years, and everything happened to be perfect this year. Cannot describe all the impressions I felt, feeling extremely small in this big and rough alpine environment. It was insane!! Part of the trail was vanished and some improvised markers were put into the soil. Standing underneath the glacier and cooling down was epic. And it ended with a trail between the alpine pines, full of flow.

And yes, I’ve met the angry Bergführer’s brother 😂

Big bike, big freeride lines in the high alpine zone
Above the treeline, a complete different landscape exists: rough, grey and brown. I love it!

A steep entry, loose ground and no room for hesitation.

This is the kind of terrain where line choice, balance and staying calm matter more than speed. Especially after already putting loads of energy in the ascent.

More from this ride with Fred soon.

This is my life and I love it!! I have to step back for a while and limit my riding to flow trails and see how my body responds. I would say, calculating the top to bottom average flow AND taking what is flow to me, it still counts as a flow trail…
