£9.92 in my bank account. Two days until payday.

And honestly? I’m okay with it.

A few years ago, seeing this amount would have sent me into a panic… or I’d have just carried on spending and happily dipped into my overdraft.

I had absolutely no respect for money.

Every month I’d get paid, watch my wages disappear straight into clearing the overdraft, and feel completely gutted that I was starting another month with nothing. Then I’d do it all over again.

The difference now is that I actually give my money a job.

Thanks to Monzo, I can see exactly where my money needs to go, what’s already accounted for, what I can spend and what needs to be left alone. Every pound has a purpose.

And I’ve learnt to say no.

No to things I don’t need.
No to spending just because I can.
No to using tomorrow’s money today.

I’m still paying off debt. I’m not at the finish line yet. But I’m on track to be completely debt free in one year, and that feels so much better than having a bigger balance in my bank account ever did.

I think one of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt is that respecting money doesn’t mean having loads of it.

It means understanding what you have, being intentional with it, and recognising that every pound is something you worked for.

£9.92 might not look like much.

But for me, it represents a completely different relationship with money. ❤️

One where I’m finally in control instead of constantly trying to catch up. by @frugalh

Tonight’s food haul, courtesy of Olio! 🛍️❤️

If you haven’t discovered Olio yet, it’s an app that helps perfectly good surplus food find a home instead of going to waste.

I love it because it’s a win-win — less food wasted, more money saved! 💷🌱

Frugal living isn’t always about going without; sometimes it’s simply about being resourceful and making the most of what’s already available.

Have you used Olio? 👇

I have pots for EVERYTHING. 🎄🎂👕✈️

Christmas? Pot.
Birthdays? Pot.
School uniforms? Pot.
Holidays? Pot.
You name it, I’ve probably got a little pot for it. 😂

So how on earth did I forget to budget for the summer holidays?! 🤦‍♀️

Well… I did. And I can tell you now, it has absolutely screwed my budget this year!

When the kids were younger, I found it much easier to plan for the summer. I knew roughly what days out we’d do, what activities we’d book and what I needed to set aside.

But now they’re teenagers, they’re older, they’re going out with friends, making their own plans and doing their own thing… and suddenly the summer budget isn’t quite as predictable as it used to be! 😅

So, rather than beating myself up about it, I’m taking this summer as a lesson.

Next year, I’ll have a dedicated summer holiday pot with enough money saved to cover those extra days out, activities, spending money and all the little costs that seem to pop up over the six weeks.

Because being good with money doesn’t mean getting everything right all the time. Sometimes you forget something, your circumstances change, or life simply costs more than you expected.

The important thing is learning from it and making a plan for next time. ❤️

So tell me… how are you getting on with the six weeks? 👇

Have you budgeted for the summer holidays, or have you been caught out like me?! 😅

Another month, another debt gone! 🎉

Last month I paid off a loan, and this month I’ve finally cleared that awful Flexible Friend credit card! 🙌

That’s 2 debts paid in 2 months. 💪

I purposely left myself £100 short this month so I could get this card paid off. It might sound scary, but I know I’ll easily make that back through my Vinted sales before the end of the month when I start running low.

Sometimes you’ve got to make a plan and trust yourself to stick to it. Every debt paid is one step closer to financial freedom.

If you’re on your own debt-free journey, keep going. It really can be done. ❤️ Also thank you so much to my new followers and thank you for coming on this journey with me! 🥂 by @frugalh

Can we make an average take-home wage last the whole month while still paying off debt? Let’s find out. 💷👇

This is exactly how I manage my money every single month using Monzo Pots.

💰 Bills Pot – All my direct debits and monthly bills go here.
🚗 Car Pot – Fuel, tax, MOT and those unexpected costs.
🛒 Food Pot – My grocery budget for the month.
🎉 Fun Money – Because life isn’t just about paying bills.
📉 Debt Payments – These are prioritised so I know everything is covered.

Whatever is left is what I actually have to spend.

I’ve found that separating my money into pots stops me from accidentally spending what I need for bills later in the month. It also makes budgeting much less stressful because I can see exactly where every pound is going.

The goal isn’t to be perfect—it’s to be consistent.

Who’s with me? Are you a Monzo Pots fan, or do you budget another way? Let me know below! 👇

Freebies have been arriving thick and fast lately, and I still get excited every time something free lands on the doorstep! 🎉

Recently I’ve received free colouring pages, stickers, cat food samples, perfume samples, and skincare creams. None of these are things I needed, but they’re all things I can enjoy without spending a penny.

It’s easy to overlook the value of freebies because they’re often small items, but they can save money, help you try new products, and introduce you to brands you might never have considered otherwise.

There’s also something genuinely fun about opening the post and finding a little free surprise waiting for you. For anyone on a frugal journey, those small wins really do add up over time.

What’s the best freebie you’ve received recently? Let me know in the comments! 👇

A little reminder that being frugal doesn’t mean missing out 💖

Today was such a lovely girly day with my daughter, and honestly, I was quite proud of how much we managed to save while still treating ourselves.

✨ Lunch at Zizzi completely paid for with Tesco Clubcard points – not a penny spent. Even better, our waiter told me that if I download the Zizzi app, I can claim a free garlic bread and use it alongside Clubcard rewards points.

☕ Then we popped into Caffè Nero, where I remembered Vodafone Rewards offers any barista-made drink for just £1. My large pistachio and chocolate frappe should have been nearly £6, but cost me just £1.

💄 Next stop: Boots. I had £17 worth of Advantage Card points saved up, which covered some new makeup I’d been wanting.

🎁 We finished in Space NK, where I used a £10 voucher and picked up a gorgeous makeup bag for just £2 instead of £12.

Total spent? Very little.
Total enjoyment? Absolutely priceless.

Being savvy isn’t about depriving yourself—it’s about making your money, points, rewards and vouchers work harder so you can enjoy more for less.

Today’s savings felt just as good as the treats themselves! 💕✨

What’s the best money-saving win you’ve had recently? 👇

Being frugal doesn’t mean missing out—it means finding smarter ways to enjoy the things you love.

Picked up this Starbucks Too Good To Go bag for just £3.50 instead of £12.00 and ended up with loads of treats for the weekend. A great little win for the wallet while helping reduce food waste too.

What’s the best bargain you’ve found recently?

💸 DEBT UPDATE 💸

Nearly £900 of debt is now GONE! 🎉

In just 4 months, I’ve cleared TWO debts through a combination of:
✨ Selling on Vinted
✨ Scanning receipts
✨ Using cashback apps
✨ Being more mindful with my spending

And this month, I made the decision to cash out my 4p savings challenge and put it straight towards my debt. That move has almost wiped out my credit card balance, and honestly… it feels GOOD. 🙌

No lottery win. No overnight success. Just consistent small actions that have added up over time.

Seeing nearly £900 disappear from my debt total has given me so much motivation to keep going. Now it’s one final push this month and my credit card will be gone for good. 🚀

Every item sold, every receipt scanned, every cashback reward, and every pound saved has helped me get closer to financial freedom.

Small steps really do create big results.
