Seriously though - I absolutely love tennis. Challenging my body in different ways has become essential to my recovery; which is still ongoing unfortunately.

My right arm has no feeling from the elbow down to the mid-hand. I started playing tennis in September 2025 to try and repair some of the nerve damage in my arm and it has been marginally better. My hand strength is almost back to 100% though, which is reassuring that my body is still finding ways to heal and/or adapt.

I also have several permanently dislocated ribs so the torso mobility that comes with tennis is making that much easier to manage as well.

My legs are still very strong and my mind is clear and focused on the future. Two things I am very grateful for.

I’m never going to give up on myself. There’s a very select group of people who have been through exceptionally horrible things, often multiple times in their life and have not let it make them bitter, or sarcastic about the world. I’m very proud to be among them.
