It’s almost that time Firebirds! Here are some important end of summer dates:On August 3rd & 4th, head over to Free State from 9am-6pm to get your MacBook, take your picture for student ID’s and yearbook, get a parking pass, walk your schedule (schedule will be accessible on PowerSchool before), find bus information, etc.INCOMING FRESHMEN: From 8-11:30am on August 12th (buses will run!), the freshmen get the school all to themselves as they tour Free State with LINK Crew.For the first official day of school (August 13th), we will run a 0-7 schedule (look for upcoming post with schedule) from 8am-3:15pm.Excited to see everyone back at school! 💚🎨 + 📱: Julia Andrade by @fsjournalism

On Thursday, May 21, Free State Theatre perform at the Bluestar Awards hosted at Starlight Theatre. They performed “When You’re an Addams” from “The Addams Family Musical: School Edition” as they were nominated for Outstanding Overall Production.📸: Kinley Gigous by @fsjournalism

On May 19, the Free State High school class of 2026 graduated at Allen Fieldhouse. Nearly 400 students earned their diplomas and 36 students were given the honor of valedictorian. The ceremony started with speeches from the Superintendent Dr. Jeanice Kerr Swift, Principal Amy McAnarney and the president of the Lawrence Board of Education, Gr Gordon-Ross. The night also included speeches from students Julia Velasco, Colby Stutler, and Kyle Sikes, that represented the class of 2026.Congratulations graduates!📸: Addison Powers by @fsjournalism

On Monday May 18th, the Free State Baseball Team played Liberal High School in their first game of regionals. The Firebirds won 11-0 and will take on the Topeka High School Trojans today at 1:00 pm in the cage.📸 - @cbraden.photos by @fsjournalism
