Although brothers Philip and Bruce and sister Lynn (Miller) graduated from FSU in different programs (Philip, hospitality; Bruce, English; and Lynn, accounting), they each realize the impact pediatric medicine, research and FSU Health can have on the lives of families and entire communities. Through the Vineyard Family Foundation, they have chosen to make an impact of their own by providing a $1.25 million charitable gift to support the Collegeโ€™s Institute for Pediatric Rare Diseases. Recently, the Vineyards were guests of Dean Alma Littles, M.D., and IPRD Director Pradeep Bhide, Ph.D., and toured the college as well as the IPRD Diagnostic Laboratory. They also were recognized on field at a recent football game. It was a great visit! Take a look at the fall issue of FSU MED magazine and learn more about the impact this gift will have on the future of medicine: https://bit.ly/4AJuv2J

Celebrating the impact of $697,380.85 from Year 31 in support of FSU College of Medicine Pediatric Outreach Programs. These funds will help support children and families throughout our community, from physicals and dental care to medical music therapy in the NICU and family support services.

So grateful for everyone who made Year 31 possible and proud to see our hard work continue making a difference for local children and families. by @fsucom

For Jalal Jamil of the Florida State University College of Medicine, receiving a white coat represents both an honor and a responsibility. As he begins his medical education journey, he's reflecting on what it means to join a profession built on trust, service, and care.

Jalal believes one of the greatest privileges in medicine is being able to listen to and support people during some of the most important moments of their lives. For him, the white coat is a reminder of that responsibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for future patients.

As he and his classmates begin this next chapter, they do so with a sense of purpose and hope for the impact they can make in the years ahead.

Thank you, Jalal, for sharing your story.

Our dean, Dr. Alma Littles, received the Key to Quincy, Florida, her hometown, in recognition of being elected president of the Florida Medical Association โ€” the first dean to hold this post in FMAโ€™s 151-year history! Mayor Dr. Robin Wood and the Quincy City Council unanimously passed a resolution honoring Dr. Littles for โ€œher extraordinary achievements in medicine, medical education, leadership, advocacy, and public service.โ€

Physicians and staff from around the state are gathering in Clearwater for the 4th annual Graduate Medical Education Symposium. Attendees are FSU GME faculty leadership representing hospitals and other healthcare facilities across Florida. Thanks to its community-based model, the FSU College of Medicine is able to partner with hospitals and healthcare providers from Pensacola to Jacksonville all the way to Fort Myers to offer 32 GME programs that train 516 residents and fellows. The college plays a major role in advancing FSU Healthโ€™s mission to directly address the ever-growing physician workforce shortage in Florida. Attendees say they value the opportunity to network with colleagues from across the state.
