There’s something ridiculously comforting about being surrounded by stories, having a hundred different worlds within arm’s reach, and still convincing myself that I need just one more book.

A little corner filled with endless possibilities, stories waiting to be discovered, and more books than I could possibly read anytime soon. 📚🤎

There’s something about Delhi that makes it so much more than just a capital city. It’s a place where history lives in its monuments, its old streets, its architecture, and the stories that have survived centuries of change.

From the rise and fall of empires to the making of modern India, Delhi has witnessed so much of the history that has shaped the country we know today. And even as it continues to grow and evolve, its past remains an inseparable part of its identity. Perhaps that’s what makes this city so fascinating: the many layers of history, culture, and life that exist within it.

The Shortest History of Delhi by John Zubrzycki feels like an invitation to look beyond the familiar and discover the many stories hidden within this extraordinary city. I’m loving the opportunity to explore Delhi through a different lens, one that connects its fascinating past with the city we know today. ❤️📚

Thank you, @panmacmillanindia , for sending this beautiful addition my way. Looking forward to all the stories these pages have to unfold! ✨

the struggle of being a reader with more books than bookshelf space 📚😭 because apparently buying another book is easier than buying another bookshelf.

whistler is such a quiet book, but i found myself thinking about it more than i expected to.

what i loved most was the way patchett writes about people and relationships without making them simple. so much of who we become is shaped by the people we know when we are young, sometimes in ways we only understand much later.

the passage of time really stayed with me too. there’s something so interesting about looking back at a memory when you are 53 and realising that you understand it very differently from the person you were at 10 or 15. the memory hasn’t changed, but you have.

this is also very much a book about relationships rather than resolution. there isn’t a lot of urgency or dramatic plotting, and i can see why some readers might find it slow. but i enjoyed spending time with these characters, listening to their conversations and watching their relationships unfold.

more than anything, it left me thinking about the people from my own past. the ones who shaped me in ways i probably didn’t recognise at the time, and how differently i might see some of those relationships now.

a gentle, thoughtful book that made me look back at my own life a little differently.

i couldn’t put this book down, i couldn’t stop reading it. i kept telling myself i’d read one more letter, and somehow, i was still reading hours later. but when i finished, what stayed with me wasn’t just sybil’s story. it was the way her life made me look at mine, the choices i’ve made, the people i’ve loved, the relationships i’ve held onto and the ones i’ve let go of, and all those little decisions that quietly become a life.

it made me think about growing older, and how a life is never really finished. there are still people to meet, relationships to mend, mistakes to make peace with, second chances to take, and so much life left to actually live.

and as someone who already loves epistolary novels, this completely lived up to everything i love about them. there’s something so intimate about letters, getting to know someone through the words they choose to leave behind, little by little.

this is easily one of my best reads of the year. and i’m genuinely so glad i waited to read it. i wanted to give this book my full attention, and it deserved every bit of it.

i cannot recommend this book enough. if you love character-driven stories, complicated people, beautiful writing, and books that leave you thinking about your own life long after you’ve closed the cover, please read this one. 🤍
