Love movies, TV and streaming, but don’t see yourself behind the camera?

Meet one of TCU’s newest programs: Business of Entertainment Media.

It’s built for students who want to know why one show takes off, how franchises build fandoms and how great content finds its audience.

You’ll study the business, legal and financial side of the industry, still get hands-on production experience (think KTCU 88.7 radio or sports broadcasting), and pair it all with a minor like strategic communication or general business.

Plus, Fort Worth’s growing film scene has given FTDM students chances to shadow the Landman crew.

Future brand managers, producers and marketing strategists: swipe through, then read the full post on the Horned Frog Blog.

Your seat at the table starts with one application. Get started at the link in bio! A smartphone filming a colorful stage with bright lights and performers. 2026 has been a great movie year. But how do audiences learn and get excited about upcoming films? Meet today’s featured alum: Drew Erb, manager of global creative marketing for Lionsgate!

In this role, Drew helps create and execute marketing materials for upcoming Lionsgate films including the movie trailers you see online and in theaters, TV spots, and any bespoke content based on the property. He works with trailer production houses and many creative partners from the original marketing concept through to their final delivery. He says that his work “can also extend well beyond the edit room, whether that means producing special shoots, developing promotional content on location, or working alongside our film teams on scripts, casting, and other creative decisions to better connect marketing and production before cameras even roll.”

For the Borderlands premiere, he had the opportunity to drive the Claptrap robot on the red carpet and interact with star Cate Blanchett as part of a promotion for the film. Another favorite moment in his role at Lionsgate was having the cast of Now You See Me: Now You Don’t take selfies with his phone as part of a special marketing shoot to promote the film. Currently, he is working on the teaser for John Rambo, an upcoming prequel film to the well-known franchise. He says this project “is very exciting considering watching FIRST BLOOD as a kid was a core memory of mine.” Drew also creates marketing materials for industry events like CinemaCon, the American Film Market, and even the Cannes Film Festival.

During his time in FTDM, Drew loved the opportunity to learn and appreciate more about film and filmmaking through Dr. Joan McGettigan’s Hitchcock and Film Noir classes, Prof. Richard Allen’s Directing course, and even Dr. Kim Owczarski’s Business of Media class.

You can see his creative work in a number of upcoming Lionsgate films, including John Rambo next summer and Karoshi in February. Click through the images to see some of the other film marketing campaigns he’s worked on, including one on the red carpet with Cate Blanchett!

For the last 2 summers, FTDM students and alums have worked on a reality competition show produced right here in Fort Worth. The Shift is the first of its kind to focus on the work of respiratory therapy students and professionals. Each episode puts contestants through high-pressure clinical and creative challenges that test skill and communication. Created by Joe Lewis, a respiratory therapy educator, the show hopes to inspire clinicians across the country to raise the standard in the profession.

FTDM senior Sarah Seifried began working as the Assistant Producer for season one and served as producer in 2026 for the show’s second season. She manages the production by creating the schedule, outlining the episodes, assisting with casting and hiring, directing, and managing the creative vision throughout the production process.

Joining Sarah on the production team have been several FTDM Frogs. Senior Zuhal Jafari worked on season one as a camera operator and “loved working with Sarah on the first season; it was something new for everyone included and we were fortunate to have a great team to create something special.” Senior McKay Truelove served as the narrative coordinator for season 2 and said, “Getting to work with my TCU peers as well as other film makers on season 2 of The Shift was an incredible experience. I was able to use the skills I have developed in FTDM and the connections I have built to get the most out of the experience.” Ivery Lechuga served as a key production assistant and found it to be “a fun and welcoming environment that allowed me to explore the world of production further. The entire cast and crew were absolutely wonderful; I truly couldn’t have asked for a better on-set experience.”

Click through the pictures to see Sarah and several of our FTDM Frogs hard at work producing the series!

Season 2 premieres on October 25th on the Respiratory Coach YouTube channel to help kick off Respiratory Care Week. New episodes follow each week on Wednesdays and Sundays. You can check out the 1st season, too, on the same channel.

We look forward to seeing the great work accomplished by our FTDM students and alums on the show!
