Fort Lauderdale locals, this one’s ours.

You already know what A1A has turned into. Three times the price, no flavor, and you talk yourself into it because of the view. You’re not paying for the food. You’re paying for a tourist trap.

Two blocks west there’s a kitchen so good the same family opened a second restaurant in town. Different name, same menu, same hands.

The Gavarita is one of the best margaritas I’ve had in this county and I order one everywhere I go. The ceviche was so fresh I’d bet money it came in that morning. Corvina, lime, red onion, limo chile, nothing else, because when the fish is that good you don’t hide it.

Happy hour Tuesday to Friday 4 to 7, and Saturday and Sunday 3 to 5. A weekend happy hour on the beach. Nobody does that. Wine Down Wednesday, wine half off.
And once a month the whole room turns into a Latin night with couples actually dancing and a band that was on another level. If you’re Latino in Broward and you’ve been missing that, it lives here.

Casa Playa, 401 N Birch Rd. Closed Mondays.

How could this not be on your bucket list too?

🤍 Tag whoever you’re taking. And be normal about it.
