My dream was always to be a singer, and I never thought one day I would be so satisfied to be an emcee.

After I got eliminated in PSS 2014, I bumped into one of the higher executives of MediaCorp in the carpark and she asked me “你有兴趣做综艺吗? (Are you interested in variety instead?)” Of course I said yes right, dying to be a(ny) celebrity back then 😂 But without a doubt, MediaCorp never called 😭

With my singing stints coming at a pathetic rate back then, I thought - maybe I can try talking instead? I started with roadshows, Pokka and Triumph being my earliest clients, then I transitioned to reading word for word from a paper at weddings, hiding amongst the crowd at my community events before landing my first corporate hosting stint. I worked hard you know, I would practice over and over, take (harsh and brutal) feedback from my husband, cry, reflect, watch videos, improvise and start over again. It went on for years, even now as I’m typing, I’m still trying.

I love my job as an emcee. Every client, big or small, means the world to me and I give it my 199% each time I take the mic. Even memorizing the entire baby shark script, songs and dance steps, I took it with utmost pride to deliver to my audience, some barely even walking. I may sound like I’m all jokes and laughter on stage but that was exactly what cost me almost 10 years in the making - wit is the hardest part of the job.

It hit me hard because this morning, when I was expecting a compliment from the hubby, he instead was quick to point out the flaws in my hosting and methods. And as that sank in, I realized this is really a process that will never end. When you thought you finally reached the next “tier”, new expectations are heaped on you. I’m not angry, I’m motivated. This is my bread and butter, I gave up my corporate role to be here and if anything, I want to give it my all.

Thank you to everyone who has believed in me and gave me encouragement along the way, you have no idea how much it fuels me to keep going. And I will keep going ❤️

Thank you Cino Chee for bringing this video to life 💙 by @fudgedaisy

☀️ ☀️ ☀️

In the blink of an eye, I’ve been hosting and singing for 8 years. It’s not the longest considering I joined the industry late when I made a career switch after Project Superstar in 2014. It’s been a roller coaster ride but I’ve never regretted this decision. After all, I found my husband in a siamdiu right 😂

As we approach the last two months of 2023, I’m excited for upcoming plans. Plans for MYSELF. Something I should probably have done a long time ago, but - better late than never 💪🏻

I’m thankful to be in such a good place now. I don’t mean my achievements - I mean my headspace, it’s in a comfortable place. I’m giving my 150% at work, learning to say NO to jobs I’m not comfortable with taking, prioritising and spending the most time I ever have with family and close ones in the past 8 years.

I’m happy, and I hope you are too ❤️

I still find it hard to believe that you are 5️⃣

My cute little sunshine marshmallow, all grown up now 🥹

Brought him to Kidzania for a day of fun!

The one station he revisited thrice - School of Robotics 🤖 I couldn’t understand why other kids were flocking to the police station and SCDF, and he just wanted to repeat this.

Wearing a new Mario tee from 婆婆 ❤️

Eating the fruits of his labour - shaped and knead the cookie dough, designed the toppings and sent it to bake!

Supermarket station - showed him being efficient and organized, can send him to buy things Liao next time 😂

Mr Postman, you’ve got mail! ✉️

At one point, you said your dream was to be construction worker 😂

Anyone ordered shopee?

Very excited to operate and take people’s bones out 😂

This is golden and my personal faveeeee!!!
I doubt the patient survived though 🫠🫠🫠

He didn’t even make it out of the carpark after a hard day of work 😂😂😂

Happiest Birthday Zi Teng ❤️ Mama loves you more than you can ever imagine. Stay healthy, happy, brave and kind 😘 by @fudgedaisy

Had a blast at Punggol Coast’s Wild Wild West Childrens Day celebration this morning!

Witnessed so many talented kids as young as 4 take the stage to perform and share their passion and it was truly inspiring! Top that up with entertaining acts, ventriloquist performance, roving magic, pony rides, bouncy castles and more than 40 activities spanning across 2 levels, the kids (and adults) were certainly in for a good time!

Definitely made extra fun with my cohost @cyrustalks, it was 5 hours of goodness! 🎉🎉🎉

Happy Children’s Day! 😁

Four hours on the mic, plenty of little ones bouncing about, and so much to discover! ☀️

Spent my morning hosting Punggol West Family Fiesta, where families enjoyed games, bouncy castles, crafts, food booths and a little flea market shopping in between.

One of my favourite parts was chatting with our community partners. From diapers and milk powders to parenting essentials, healthy living and everyday food choices, there was plenty to learn. The host in me enjoyed the conversations and the mum in me had a few questions of her own 😂

Lovely to see families coming together for a morning of play, discovery and community. Thank you for having me, Punggol West! 💛 by @fudgedaisy

6 October 2026 🤍

It’s her first day of school today!

We were really worried how it would go as she doesn’t take well to strangers, and I was prepared she would meltdown the entire day.

But she surprised us in the best way possible 🥹

Cried at the entrance, but settled in quickly.
I’m incredibly impressed with her classmates, who were so friendly and loving towards her, passing her toys and playing with her, making her at ease. Teachers were super patient and loving the entire time, so grateful for their support 🤍

We left and came back around lunch time.
As her mother isn’t adventurous with food, and her exposure to different food hasn’t been great, so we were pleasantly surprised she enjoyed her meal!

We left again after lunch.
While we understand most parents would choose to go for just half a day for the first 1-2 weeks, we decided to do full day from the start. It worked well with Zi Teng, and we felt it would ease her in easier. We hung around the mall just in case the phone rang but teacher texted to say she is napping soundly.

YAY. Smelt freedom for a bit heehee.

She did cry at pick up when she saw us, understandably 😂 but her teachers told us she had a good first day, no crying and was able to participate here and there, otherwise just playing on her own or walking around the class 🤣

Well, I can’t wait to see how Day 2 goes 😁

A part of me is so happy to get some freedom in the day back.
But a part of me also misses her laughter and screams and her little shadow following me everywhere I go.
Don’t grow up too fast baby, I love you 🥲 by @fudgedaisy

One of the proudest moments I had for this National Day Dinner celebration was the sing-along medley in the finale (the highlight and climax of all National Day Dinners). While we enjoy the classic National Day Songs of "We Are Singapore", "Stand Up For Singapore", "Count on Me, Singapore" and "One People, One Nation, One Singapore", singing through the full songs would no doubt be fatiguing and overly draggy. I searched and scoured the web for a medley that would tie the songs together neatly and seamlessly but to no avail.
.
Eventually, I decided to snip and stitch the songs together myself for a custom experience for the dinner. It was a heartwarming and endearing experience as Buangkok-Fernvale South @b_fsco waved our flags together and sang in unison in celebration of the 61st birthday. A number of attendees had also come up to say that they enjoyed how the songs blended together in the medley, definitely a moment of gratitude for me. <3

📽️ As always, thank you to @bokbokeh for the fantastic coverage and highlights! by @fudgedaisy

We hired a five-year-old tech reviewer. His verdict:

🎧 Estimated price: $1
🌈 Best features: Colourful, comfy and “a bit ticklish”
💰 Would he buy it for his friends? Yes, but only when he grows up and has money 😂

Mummy approves too: hearing protection, wireless use and long battery life. Perfect for homework, piano practice and travelling!

Thank you @awei.singapore for sending this little guy his very own pair! 💛🎧
