WARNING: You can never unsee it. This was supposed to be our season ender. A staple for us @roadatlanta with @nasa_se hosting an event the call “Santa’s Toy Run”. This was also our chance to take a stab at the Miata record which was held by @racerpinky which stood at 1:25.3xx. A time we weren’t far off from with out PB sitting at a 1:26.1xx. We chose to forgo the first session of the day as there was still sitting dew and track conditions weren’t optimal for proper lap time. We let the time warmers continue to cook and waited for the second session. It was time. We started at the back of the pack as we didn’t have a time for the first session. With how well the car was driving, this was light work. It took us four laps to finally start our flyer. An incident on track caused an immediate red flag at turn 1 followed by a follow up warm up lap. 4 laps in, the car felt great. Better than it ever has. Coming out of turn 5 we were more tha 2.5 seconds faster than our PB. It was ours. Little did we know, gravel had been littered across 10a/10b from an incident. This is the result.
