After years of crossing the Hauraki Gulf, it’s almost time to say goodbye to a true Fullers360 favourite.

Quickcat has carried generations of commuters, visitors and crew, becoming a familiar and much-loved part of life on the Hauraki Gulf along the way.

We know there are plenty of you with fond memories of Quickcat, so before she signs off, we’re taking a look back at some of her moments over the years.

And while her time on the Gulf may be coming to an end, a little piece of Quickcat will live on. Some of her parts and life jackets are being donated to help support the next generation of sailors, giving them a new life on the water.

Thanks for the journeys, the memories and the good times, Quickcat. taken in Hauraki Gulf by @fullers360

I don’t think I’ve been anywhere on Waiheke Island quite like this.

Olive trees. Rows of vines. Nowhere to be.

Tucked into a warm, sheltered valley in Onetangi, Stonyridge Vineyard might just be New Zealand’s answer to the south of France. Surrounded by that same relaxed, Mediterranean-style setting, with a glass of their 2023 Reserve Pinot Noir in hand, I’m starting to understand why.

Our Waiheke Wine and Dine platter came out generously loaded. Italian charcuterie, silky chicken and duck parfait, marinated olives, and crackers, made for slow grazing over a second glass - probably their 2024 Fallen Angel Rosé.

Stonyridge Vineyard, worth the trip to Waiheke alone.

Last stop on our Auckland Restaurant Month run, and we’re finishing where lunch tends to run long. Here’s one final Waiheke Island favourite...

Say hello to @stonyridgevineyard , where the food comes out family-style and nobody at the table is watching the clock. Focaccia, burrata, miso eggplant and short rib, passed around until the plates are empty.

🍷 Larose, the Bordeaux blend that made this vineyard’s name
🍽️ A set menu built for a long table and a slower afternoon
🌿 Vines, olive groves and a lawn you’ll be reluctant to leave

Restaurant Month wraps up this week, so if this one’s been sitting on your list, round up the group chat and go.

It’s the final week of Auckland Restaurant Month, and this one comes with a view that does half the work.

@vinovino_waiheke , sitting up in Oneroa village where lunch has a habit of turning into dinner. Argentine cooking, island wine, and no reason to rush.

🥩 Eye fillet with chimichurri, made the way chef Connie Aldao grew up making it
🥟 Empanadas you’ll want to order before you’ve even looked at the mains
🍷 A wine list built around the island it’s sitting on

Book a table, grab a ferry, and give yourself the whole afternoon for it.

A Waiheke day out for less 🚲⛴️🍕

If you’ve been looking for an excuse to escape Auckland for the day, this month is a pretty good time to do it.

⛴️ Save $10 with @fullers360
Use code IslandEats10 to get $10 off your Waiheke walk-up return fare.

🚲 Save $20 with eRide Waiheke
Pick up an eBike and spend the day exploring the island at your own pace — beaches, vineyards, back roads and plenty of beautiful places to stop along the way.

🍕 Then stop for lunch
Park up the bikes, grab a table at somewhere like @thehekewaiheke, and settle in for pizza, a drink and a well-earned break before heading off again.

Ferry. eBike. Lunch. Waiheke.
And two great ways to save while you do it.

Both offers are available this month only, so make the most of them while they’re here.

Fullers360 offer terms and travel dates apply.

Sailing to the next stop on our Auckland Restaurant Month run, with a spot where the oysters come straight off the island.

Here’s another one of the locals’ picks on Waiheke Island…

@oysterinnstagram sits above Oneroa village, with the bay laid out in front of you. Coastal bistro food, a sunny veranda, and afternoons that easily get away on you.

🦪 Te Matuku oysters, harvested from pristine waters and shucked to order
🍸 A talented bar team who’ll mix you something seasonal or pour you a classic
🌊 Some of the best bay views on the island

Two courses for $55 until 31 August. Starter and main, or main and dessert, with focaccia and seaweed butter for the table to start. Mondays 12:00pm to 4:00pm, Thursdays from 4:00pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 12:00pm until late. Full menu at the link, and book ahead.

There’s plenty more coming your way for Restaurant Month, bring your appetite and a flexible approach to how your Waiheke day will end.

Another one of our Waiheke Island faves for Auckland Restaurant Month, this time we find ourselves in Waiheke’s olive groves.
@allpressolivegroves is home to Bistro Allpress. It’s casual and unfussy with a menu built around a few good locally sourced ingredients. Featuring curated interiors, a big courtyard and outdoor pizza kitchen it’ll be easy to settle in for the whole afternoon.

Our picks from the menu include:
🐔 Their half or whole rotisserie chicken
🫒 Waiheke-grown extra virgin olive oil, pressed on site
🍕 Pizza eaten in a courtyard made for long lunches

We’re not done with Restaurant Month yet, there’s more, must-visit spots on the way and even more reasons to stick around the island a little longer than you planned.
