The humble Malaysian karipap aka #currypuff 🤤 Chicken and potato curry filling, laced with chili sambal and caramelized shallots. The ultimate savory teatime snack. I grew up making these with my late grandmother. I called her “Mak Tok” and she called these “epok epok” ☺️ In Malaysia you can get these on breakfast carts or in coffee shops fairly easily, but here in the US - homemade is always best (and probably the only way you’ll get them) 😅 jom makan!

Nasi goreng kampung (village fried rice). Malaysian street food staple - which means you can have it for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Garlic, shallots and shrimp paste aromatics, with egg and water spinach (kangkung), bird’s eye chili, overnight rice, and crispy salty delicious deep fried anchovies. Oh and a fried egg. Garnish with spring onions and extra chili as desired. 😚

4.5 pounds of deep fried catfish goodness. Sesame roasted garlic slivers in light soy sauce with ginger and Thai chili. Generous portions of cilantro, carrots, and spring onion make for refreshing edible garnishes.

Kansas City Style ribs: sticky, spicy, smoky, tender fall off the bone. Homemade spice rub, 2 batches, smoked on the pit for 4 hours each then finished off and glazed on the gas grill. Delicious snack while tending to the brisket all day.

There’s nothing quite like Texas BBQ brisket fresh off the pit. We smoked these on our new David Klose, 400 lb, Texas bbq pit for 14 hours. Result: juicy, tender, smoky, deep flavor. And that smoke ring!!!Next time: crutch for less time to form the bark a tad better.

Happy chap goh mei all! Today marks the 15th and final day of Chinese New Year celebrations. Tradition has it that everyone should enjoy a bowl of sticky glutinous rice balls steeped in a warm, gingery syrup. In my case I put a Malaysian twist to it and added a knot of pandan leaves so it’s super fragrant. So yummy.... 🤤 I’d happily enjoy this dessert on other days of the year too!

Spicy Thai basil chicken with jasmine rice and a fried egg. Pad krapow is a street food staple for many throughout Southeast Asia. It’s the quickest, easiest, tastiest lunch recipe I have in my repertoire. Packed with flavor, fool-proof and never disappoints.

Tangy, fiery, piri piri chicken slow grilled then charred to juicy-crispy-moist perfection. Enough said.

Going to try smoking a whole turkey on the new pit soon. Texas style 🤠

Sarawak Laksa is a prawn and chicken based spiced coconut broth served with rice vermicelli, shredded chicken, prawns, bean sprouts, shredded egg omelette, and a dried prawn chili sauce. Serve this alongside a giant portion of steamed king crab and boiled crawfish and you have yourself a feast 🤤

Crispy, sticky, twice-fried, garlic soy Korean fried chicken.

Deep fried the first time, air fried the second time. Basted with love and sesame sprinkles.

I was 16 the first time I ate Korean food with @zeehanzahari and I was 24 when I traveled and ate my way through Korea with @yunyunyuny and @jkerrg. It’s been a life long love affair that won’t end (and I hope never will).
