This was a truly special @festivaldecannes . First public outing for @palmtrees.dev Nigerian filmmakers made history w/ MY FATHER’S SHADOW. Saw so many ppl, both new and dear to me. And each day I stepped outside and into the dark…because that’s where the light lives. Grateful to belong to a community that keeps showing up, even when the work asks more than we think we have. 🤎 by @funamentals

I see the sun, and if I don't see the sun, I know it's there. And there's a whole life in that, in knowing that the sun is there -Dostoevsky ☀️🧜🏾‍♀️💘 taken in Messinia, Greece by @funamentals

It’s a very important time to support writers. I’ve spent a majority of the last two months reading A TON - first the works of the fellows at @jeremyoharris x @gucci writers residency and second for the Cannes Screenplay List sponsored by @wscripted x @mubi (winners announced today!) At times it’s been disorienting to accept the title of mentor and juror in these situations, respectively, when the work of these artists has taught me so much. How heartbreaking if these voices, our voices, are not given the fair, viable future they deserve. All my love x by @funamentals

Hi! Beyond thrilled to return to my first home as a filmmaker and to do so in service of my first and forever (film) love, world cinema. Looking forward to discovering new voices and reuniting with friends, familiar and new. Sundance kicks off tomorrow, see you on the mountain (and also online!)💥⛷️🏔️ @sundanceorg taken in Park City, Utah by @funamentals

Happy Easter! (and blessings to friends observing Passover and Ramadan.) This photo was taken about a month ago on my birthday - wearing a dress made by my grandmother 🕊 and holding flowers picked by my sister 🌸. taken in Museo Frida Kahlo by @funamentals
