🌊 Day 10 of Fundae: When the Swell Starts to Build

They say a “10 out of 10” means perfect.
What defines perfect?
Shiny? Is perfection when everything is going smoothly? Overnight success?
This year was none of that.
It was messy.
It went sideways.
It moved backward at times.
It tested my patience, my confidence, and my resilience.
And still — without hesitation — it was a 10 out of 10.
Because a real ten isn’t about everything going right.
It’s about showing up consistently, especially when it’s going wrong.

I give 2025 a 10 because I brought my dream to life! It doesn’t get much sweeter than that!

Out on the horizon, a wave doesn’t look powerful yet. It’s uneven, unformed, easy to underestimate. As it travels, it meets resistance — shifting winds, opposing currents, storms it never asked for. But if it keeps moving, something happens.
The swell builds.
That’s what this year did.
There were setbacks I couldn’t have planned for.
Delays I couldn’t control.
Moments when progress felt painfully slow — or briefly reversed.
And still…
Fundae showed up.
Doors opened and I went through.
Green lights urging me to go forward.
On runways.
In magazines.
Across podcasts.
In rooms and conversations that mattered.
On stages where I began to share more of this founder’s journey.

After years of building quietly.
After hearing “you can’t do that” from more people than I can count…
After tremendous loss of my dad and grief that quelled my creativity and drive.
After unethical vendors and major delays.

I kept going!
I did it..
I did it my way.
I finally had the year I’ve been waiting for… to have Fundae “live” and open for business!
Day 10 is a 10/10 because I showed up — consistently, imperfectly, courageously — and put one foot in front of the other to build the dream and now I can say I’ve successfully had one full year under my shoes.
Like a wave nearing shore, the energy grew with time. What started small gained momentum. What once felt fragile became undeniable.
A ten isn’t about ease.
It’s about endurance.
About staying in motion long enough for the swell to form.

Many of our designs are inspired by dance. Through beauty in movement, ribbons and adornments of gorgeous costumes to keep you shining, on pointe and on the rise….with flexible waterproof outsoles ensure you can always be dancing…even in the rain ☔️

Ballet training gave me the resilience, determination, perseverance, passion, and mindset to build a business. To believe in myself that if I show up consistently and try and try again, I can achieve my dreams 💭

I’m honored to be nominated for FGI’s Rising Star twice this year. Internationally with @fginyc for sustainability and in Chicago @fgichicago for Accessories. Like ballet, no one sees the hours and years of training dedicated to crafting your art, sometimes for a moment on stage. Recognition from FGI and our community is especially meaningful.
