Greetings 🧘🏾‍♀️
Been busy, crafting the music my soul craves + what I feel the collective needs
It’s wildly fulfilling expressing my spirit through sound
This is me blending a few of my favorite things ~ the stillness of nature, the sound of creek water, soul, & funk 🎶

much 🤎 to this African slow jam

I closed my eyes, blindly scrolled to a random song in my library, and landed on Mamaké by Sona Jobarteh ~ legendary singer from the Gambia and a true icon who made history as the first woman to professionally play the kora after the instrument was only passed down by men for 700 years.

I let my intuition guide my voice, humming the melodies and having my bass follow. loveee closing the gap between what I sing and what I play. #bass#kora by @funkybassrootz

D’Angelo is a prime example of devoting your life to your craft. I’m forever inspired by him for that and I know many artists can relate. His deep reverence for Black women is another reason his art hits so deeply.

I’m tired of the ‘Black women are strong & independent and don’t need no man’ trope. Underneath the armor that society and past trauma forced us to develop, we’re soft, nurturing, and deserving of genuine love, tender care, and protection.

I ground myself in the low ends of rhythmic bass
I float with synths that move through the song like kites in the sky
I heal through pure and loving lyrics born from lived experiences
What a beautiful gift music is !
