There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good at 61.

I enjoy beautiful skin, getting dressed, putting on a little makeup and feeling good about how I look.

Wanting to look good doesn’t mean I want to look 30.

I’m interested in caring for the woman I am today, not recreating the woman I used to be. Beauty can evolve right along with us.

There are things I miss about being younger and things I absolutely don’t.

Of course there are things I miss about being younger: certain freedoms, perhaps, and a body that recovered a little faster.

But there is so much I don’t miss: the pressure to prove myself, the need to please everyone, the uncertainty about who I was.

Age has given me perspective that youth simply couldn’t. I’ll take that trade any day.

I don’t need this season of my life to look like the ones before it.

My priorities have changed, my energy has changed, and so have the things I want. I’m learning to stop comparing and start paying attention.

There was a time when I could let the number on the scale determine whether I felt good about myself.

Now I pay attention to other things: my strength, energy, mobility, sleep and how I feel in my body.

Of course, weight can matter but it is only one measure of health.

I want to build a body that can carry me well through the years ahead. There is so much more to being well than a number.

My skincare routine today looks very different now.

Not because I stopped caring about beauty, but because I’ve learned to pay attention to what my skin actually needs.

There’s less chasing trends and more consistency, hydration and nourishment.
