🍁 Life in the Forest 🌳

The newest title in one of our favorite nonfiction series hits the shelves this month! 🍂

Our Forests explores the forests of the world through stunning illustrations and loads of interesting facts. It has a unique question-and-answer format, golden acorns to find throughout the book, a map, key definitions, and so much more. Not all forests are the same, and this book explores the different types of forests and where they are located in the world. 🌳

I live in the woods and I love being surrounded by trees this time of year. The colors here in Vermont have been absolutely gorgeous this year! 🍁

Take a closer look at the remarkable world under the microscope! 🔬

Micro: The Wild Wonders of Microscopic Life is a fascinating look at microscopic worlds that are unseen by the naked eye. Young readers will take a look at microscopic wonders in the garden, in the pond, in the forest, in the soil, at the beach, and so many other habitats and locations.

We used our microscope to look at leaves and flowers, and it was so much fun to pair with this book. What a magnificent resource for young readers!

🎃 Spooky Season Shelfie 👻

I love reading "spooky" stories with the kids! I was obsessed with @rl_stine1 books as a kid. Everytime another Goosebumps book hit the shelves, I was in line at the bookstore. 🧙‍♀️

This season reminds me of how happy reading books made me feel as a child. I hope my kids feel that at some point, too. 🧡

Do you spy any favorites?

Which one would you read first?

The first day of October began with a special fall foliage luncheon and lots of fall reads! 🍁

Students created some of their own ten-word tiny tales based on the book, Ten-Word Tiny Tales to Inspire and Unsettle by @josephcoelhoauthor and it was so fun!

We also read There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves! and created some leaf rubbings. 🍂 🎨

I always have a directed drawing option from @artprojectsforkids which is where Frankenstein was created from!

(Not pictured, but worth a share) My preschoolers also enjoyed the book, Little Monster Says Goodnight by @davidmichaelslonim1 👻. It's one of my 4-year-old's absolute favorites!

October is better with booooooooooks! 👻

Hello October! 🎃

Today, I'm sharing two absolutely adorable pumpkin-themed stories that are just perfect to read aloud this month. 🧡

The Very Unusual Pumpkin centers around Lulu and Grandma as they share a story before bed. Grandma is no good at telling stories, but Lulu works to change that. As Grandma tells a story, Lulu asks many questions that encourage Grandma to use her imagination. Together, they come up with a grand story about a very unusual pumpkin and a fairy godmother. What a sweet bedtime book for this time of year!

In Millie Fleur's Pumpkin Problem, Millie attempts to create the perfect pumpkin patch. She orders a variety of one-of-a-kind pumpkin seeds hoping to bring some color to a dull time of year. When her extra seeds end up all over the neighborhood, the town is overrun with pumpkins! What will they do with all of these autumn gourds?

Warning: This Book May Cause Uncontrollable Giggles! 💩

One Fine Day follows Moose as he decides to paint outside. Meanwhile, Bear, who is on the other side of the lake, decides to go out fishing. They both head to the same spot by the water, and find themselves a little tangled up. What begins as a battle between the two, ends in a fit of laughter after one of them lets out a fart! 😂

If your kids are into potty humor (which most of them are), this book is a must-read! 😜

And, it's super fun to read with one of those little noise machines that makes a fart noise! You're welcome. 😉
