This week, we are spotlighting Yongxin Lyu MMS '25 🏔️

"I traded the Durham humidity for the Swiss Alps after graduating from Fuqua in 2025. Now, I work in Bank for International Settlements in Basel. When I’m off the clock, I’m usually out exploring the nature or soaking up as much European history as I can. That said, no matter where I am, I’m still glued to Duke sports. Let’s go Devils!"

A "secret" #TeamFuqua recipe gets handed down to the next generation!

FuquaFit x Culinary Club recently hosted a hands-on cooking class and family-style dinner at the home of Megan (MBA '03) and Mark Overbay - co-founders of Hillsborough-based Big Spoon Roasters.

The highlight: a “secret” salmon marinade recipe Megan received from a Fuqua friend over 20 years ago, now passed on to a new generation of Fuqua MBAs. 🍽️ by @fuquaalumni

His advice to MBCS students?

"I am the father of four amazing kids and live in the Boston area with my wife, Daniella. Our son, Ethan, who was born at Duke and starred in a Fuquavision skit as a baby, is now a freshman at Boston College. Our other children Jon, Ella, and Josie are hard at work on their studies and extracurriculars. As far as a career, I am an investment banker at Lincoln International and lead our global automotive aftermarket practice, while heading our Boston office. "

This week, we are spotlighting Scott Schoedler MBA '87 🏖️

"I am Senior Financial Advisor at Burroughs Wellcome Fund, a private foundation in RTP which funds primarily biomedical research. I have been at the Fund since 1995. When not at work I am either at our house in Cary or at our house in Nags Head.

Here is a picture from this July of myself, my wife Janis, my Fuqua 1987 classmate Patti Smart and her husband Tracey Davenport, my Fuqua 1987 classmate Dave Potterton and his wife Muffy, my 1987 Fuqua classmates Ann Sunday Michael and Jim Michael, and their daughter. We had a fantastic week!!"

Mary Frances Luce PhD ’94 has officially been appointed dean of Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. After leading the school with clarity and heart as interim dean since August 2024, Mary Fran now becomes the first Fuqua alumna to step into the role—how’s that for full circle?

It’s a proud moment for our community and an exciting new chapter for Fuqua’s future. 💙

This week, we are spotlighting Holly Emerson MBA '19 🐮🌱🐈🐶

"Recently moved from the Charlotte area, I am now living in rural Person county with four cats and two dogs and serve on the county Environmental Issues Advisory Committee. I pivoted from the corporate world to teaching in the Business and Environment concentration at the Nicholas School of the Environment and am helping lead the curriculum development for our new joint degree with Fuqua--the MBCS (Masters in Business, Climate, and Sustainability). I have really enjoyed the past year, as my daughter is a masters candidate at the Nicholas School so I get to see her often."
