The breathless feeling of presence by the ocean, salty air and mossy tidal pools, heavy skies, ancient power and delicious textures; nature is the absolute expression of art and I cherish the endless blessing of exploring it in this beautiful country that became my home.

This trip in particular left a mark and I wanted to take this part of the island back with me forever.

So I’m working on a series of posters to capture this feeling.

49.12 is a a photographic study of the coast of Vancouver Island, named for the geographic coordinates where it was captured.

Twenty-four moments of land, water, flora and changing light - an archive of a real place you can find, visit and experience.

Crazy what difference light, posing and make up do.
Don’t be fooled, explore my other shapes that I once deemed “unflattering” or ugly.

Ive spent my life tucking them away while desperately trying to “fix” one more thing and seeing other women do the same to themselves and everyone around them. Pleasurable existence in your body is allowed only after you’ve locked in, you’ve deprived, you’ve pushed and punished yourself into “shape”. The privilege for existing with pleasure in your body, to adorn it and celebrate it otherwise is costly.

You have to pay for this privilege with suffering and self hate. Only after you’ve publicly suffered for it, then you are allowed to celebrate your body and find pleasure in it.

Somehow the option of just being okay with those “unflattering” parts of you was never an option.

I don’t have to be thrilled about my textured skin, acne, cellulite, fat, hairy nostrils and three black chin hairs but I’m ok with it :) As I am okay with being smelly, dirty, gross and disgusting sometimes as well.

Does it make me less attractive? To some maybe, but why the fuck would I want to attract ppl who hate my natural body and want me to suffer and change it??

I resent narrowing my existence to being attractive and beautiful, I despise having to force my being into submission of the ever changing, manufactured and manipulative ideas about who I should be and how I should be. I’m a being of this world and all my shapes and expressions are glorious and ever changing 🩷 by @fursafursa
