The latest single and video: ‘Monaco’ from the new record ‘Dark Celebration.’ We had originally travelled with all our gear to film this and had all these big ambitions, but right after we had woken up on the day of the shoot, as we were about to hit record, Parker’s lovely gal Olivia realized she was going in to labour. I insisted they go back home and it was a good thing cuz she had the baby later that day! So this second attempt at a video was definitely less planned (we shot it last week and went with car headlights as our only real light source, as a last second solution), but we ended up loving the energy of this video nonetheless. It’s its own thing. And now the bonus too.. it’s essentially a dedication to the new member of the Fur Trade family: Buffalo Rose Bossley. Congratulations you three! by @furtrade

The video for Fur Trade’s ‘Signature Moves.’ We originally just wanted to make a simple lyric video over the 80’s film ’Paris is Burning.’ We had a cut of made the same night we wrote and recorded the song. But then we got paranoid about the footage being a copyright issue and getting pulled off of YouTube. So I ran it through DJ visual projection software, and softened it up with a 16mm film simulator…which was cool for some of it, but too exhausting on the eyes for a whole video. So I went back to the initial cut of the video from before I had added lyrics, and ran it through different types of AI video to video software. A lot of it looked too “AI”ish, but I kept the moments that seemed to work. I also used an AI program to remove the background of my first edit, so I could put that version on the top layer and then throw the lyrics behind subjects. Then I added another 16mm simulator globally, and added 3 layers of 35mm grain and noise. I exported it for YouTube at 3:25 am .. but that version is a bit dark for my liking now, so here’s a version with some random Instagram reels filter, that I like better. Thx for watching it!
