I can’t believe our Jewelry class is almost over! Just one more class to go!
I brought in even more trash-to-treasure goodies today, and the kids had so much fun exploring all the supplies and letting their creativity run wild! So many wonderful little treasures, from jewelry to decorative pieces. I love seeing what they dream up!

Today, I went to the Marin County Board of Supervisors meeting and made my voice heard, alongside so many others in our community.

I was nervous to speak. I listened as person after person shared heartfelt, emotional statements, and I started to feel overwhelmed. But I lifted my chin, found my courage, and added my voice anyway.

For at least a year, community members have been asking the Board to take a clear stand and adopt a local ordinance limiting cooperation with ICE. Instead, we’ve watched the delays, the hesitation, and what feels like an unwillingness to act with the urgency this moment demands.

What makes this even more frustrating is that neighboring Bay Area counties, including San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Sonoma, have already taken steps to limit cooperation between local agencies and federal immigration enforcement. Why is Marin still lagging behind?

We need a strong, legally binding ordinance, not simply an internal administrative policy that can be changed or weakened without the same public legislative process. We need transparency, accountability, and protections written into county law.

Meanwhile, our immigrant neighbors, friends, and families, documented and undocumented alike - are living with increasing fear and uncertainty. These are people who are part of the fabric of our community. They are our coworkers, our children’s classmates, our students, our friends, and our neighbors.

This is not just about immigration policy. It’s about human dignity, compassion, accountability, and what kind of community we want to be.

The Board is scheduled to consider a proposal on October 20. I hope this is finally an opportunity for meaningful, lasting action and not another round of delays. Our elected representatives need to be clear about what protections they are willing and legally able to put in place.

I’m grateful I showed up and added my voice, and I’m grateful to everyone who stood up today and did the same.

Our voices matter. Our community deserves answers. And our neighbors deserve to feel safe. ❤️

So much fun yesterday at jewelry making class. So much energy and enthusiasm- yesterday I brought in the magic bottles and some trash to treasure items. They loved it - Always a favorite ! There are so things you can do with the bottles-inside and out !
