More Gras for the grid. ¬‿¬

🌿 The installation in the decompression room at Goddessy was so cathartic; definitely the highlight of my Carnival. Experiencing people bask in something you curated is a feeling I've never felt this viscerally before and oof! She delivered.
💜 Thank you @trissyjames for having me. taken in New Orleans, Louisiana by @future0villains

Some Gras things, some regular things.

I firmly believe that the Universe teaches us what we need to know about ourselves whether we choose to receive it or not. Carnival encourages us to tap into that together on a level that is unmatched; to experience these sacred lessons and moments and spells.

Time stops while we bask in it, struggle through it, ...
... laugh, cry, dance, stretch, sweat, march, sing through it.

This year was, hands down, one of my most fulfilling.

I'm perpetually in awe of our community. Thank you thank you thank youuuu. 👽💜 taken in New Orleans, Louisiana by @future0villains

A very belated Hiroko Gras recap by the insanely talented @baleoutphotos. Words still can't express how thankful I am for this experience, and the people I'm fortunate enough to call both friends and collaborators. It was such an honor to bring @hiroko__yamamura for her NOLA debut, & I think it's safe to say that we can't wait to have her back. 💥

🔨 Custom DJ booth and stage installation by dream team @nikkibeezee, @mossf.agate, & @woooahnelli

✨Heavy-hitting, unmatched local support: @secrethandshake.vip, @trissyjames, & @virtue__signal

🧿 Ambient sets in the decompression space from @mossf.agate & @koodes_k

💡Lighting by the goat @kuhpetey

👯‍♀️ First AD @elviramichelle_ who kept me grounded, organized, and on schedule.

💜 Shouts to @nileashton AKA Mr. Nile AKA Soop Queen for his invaluable partnership and support from start to finish.

🎟️ @djkrewe & @oiledlatex for holding it down at the door.

🤝 All of the volunteers who helped with set up, take down, & harm reduction. Y'all know who you are.

🎉 Last but certainly not least, the baddest of baddies @dark.elevator reminding us that Mardi Gras Tiddy DO be big (iykyk).

The future is villainous, 'til next time...💜👽 taken in New Orleans, Louisiana by @future0villains

THIS IS A MR. NILE APPRECIATION POST.

When I shot my shot with @hiroko__yamamura's agent last January, I didn’t expect a response—let alone a yes. Despite my experience, I had never thrown a party of this scale in our beloved scene that I have a deep, visceral, long-standing love for. I knew I needed someone with more expertise in events of this caliber, so I reached out to bestie @virtue__signal and, in summary, asked, “Where the f*** do I begin?" He told me that I should reach out to Nile as soon as possible. I still remember exactly where I was sitting and how the sunshine was hitting my face when we spoke and, ultimately, agreed to work together.
The rest is Hiroko Gras history. 👽✨

I’ll try to keep this short and sweet, but I cannot sing @nileashton's praises enough. He is direct, succinct, cool as a cucumber, and a breath of fresh, humble air in an industry oversaturated with egos. He gave me invaluable guidance that empowered me to lead my team, while respecting my relative experience and never micromanaging. When we ran into a problem, he always took the time to talk through the pros and cons of potential solutions with me.

Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to work with and learn from strong, symbiotic, business partnerships. Having worked for myself for years, I also know the difference between a consultant and a genuine, collaborative thought partner—Nile is the latter and then some.

Before anything else though, he encouraged and reminded me to trust my taste. As a highly emotional person who is perpetually plagued with imposter syndrome, that encouragement kept me going. He talked me off a ledge multiple times when I wanted to give up, and I know in my heart of hearts it's because he truly understands—and aligns with—how sacred all of this is to me, and more importantly, to so many of us. 💜

I’m beyond grateful for Nile’s partnership, and I know this is just the beginning—whatever we do next will be as mindfully curated as Hiroko Gras & then some, because we value growth and we love y'all. 🤝😌 taken in New Orleans, Louisiana by @future0villains
