Shout out @tyshawn 💎 sometimes we gotta let em know who’s really outside. One of my biggest accomplishments so far has been working with Supreme. This would’ve never happened without @tyshawn x @hardiesnyc x @supremenewyork back in 2023, when Supreme licensed one of my fathers original works and I was able to lock in Supreme with my father finally through music licensing via @mixtape__music. Happy 52nd Birthday James Dewitt Yancey aka Jon Doe aka Jay Dee aka J Dilla aka Dill Withers aka MC Silk aka your favorite producers favorite producer: The Champion Sound creator + architect. Every year we celebrate J Dilla’s legacy and the torch passed in our music lineage & sound architecture. “It’s like a chain reaction. Basically, it was like Larry Smith to Marley Marl, from Marley Marl to Pete Rock, from Pete Rock to Jay Dee…” - @realpeterock Today marks the 20th anniversary of the acclaimed “DONUTS” released by @stonesthrow @pntbtrwlf on James’s 32nd birthday. February, 7th, 2006. To commemorate this, we produced a proof-of-concept colorway on @nikesb Dunk Low SB bases dubbed the “DILLA DUNKS” and campaigned over the last couple of years to Nike and potential brand partners. Additionally, connecting with @jrocc210 over @supremenewyork’s first music release, which was a deeply moving tribute to J Dilla with a part two that pays homage to hiphop breaks and samples used by our hiphop forefathers, such as the ones mentioned above. We’re deeply honored to steward the legacy of J Dilla’s influence through thoughtful educational programs, tributes and participation in @officialmadukes @madukesofficial assisted initiatives in the memory and legacy of her son J Dilla.
