Black futures 365+ is a series honoring forward thinking in black history year round. This veterans day, we honor the veterans in our struggle for black liberation, especially those who returned from military service and redirected their efforts to serve our people. Baba Akinsanya is a rank & file member of the Black Panther party’s Sacramento chapter, a vietnam veteran, and a revolutionary artist. One of his most notable works is the illustration of the Black Panther Party’s 10 point program that later became the Black Panther Party coloring book. We sat down with him in his studio to talk history, geopolitics, art, and pan African solidarity. This is part 1 of our conversation with him. by @futurisme.studio
Beyond grateful to @kingmakersofoakland for the opportunity to give back all that I’ve learned during my career to the youth of our community! For anyone looking to build a clothing brand, or just pick up new skills, our production lab located in the heart of West Oakland is the perfect place to learn and grow. There are just a few open spots in our fashion cohort for spring 2025. Hit the link in our bio to apply 🌟 by @futurisme.studio
Honored to create this custom 1/1 embroidered trucker jacket for Ms. Fredrika Newton. This piece exists as an artifact of revolutionary love, legacy, and the inspiration she and the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation have brought to the Futurisme team. Through her love and leadership, she has dedicated the past 30+ years to surfacing the truth of the Panthers’ legacy, ensuring their contributions are known, honored, and carried forward to fuel our continued fight for total liberation. All power to the people! -ሰናይ by @futurisme.studio

Get ready with jena së kwa! ✨ HelloBeautiful caught up with the marketing and creative director behind this year’s Black Panther Party 60th anniversary celebration. by @futurisme.studio
60 years ago today in Oakland, Huey and Bobby answered the call to serve our people. They saw and lived the same oppressive conditions we still face: poverty, state-sponsored violence, hunger, class exploitation, and miseducation. Rather than wait for someone else to fix them, they organized, built survival programs, and worked to meet the needs they saw in their community. In 1968, my grandparents, rank-and-file San Francisco Panthers Ducho Dennis and Carol Henry, met while serving that community and began the legacy Futurisme Studios works to uphold. Our work is a visual record of how our elders and ancestors answered the call: service to the people, reconnection to our African ancestral heritage, and the ferocity to stare down the barrel of the biggest military state in history and say “enough.” That tradition was built by a line of revolutionary artists who understood that image and ideology move together. To the elders, the ancestors, and the Panthers still imprisoned: thank you. None of this is possible without you. The conditions they organized against still afflict our people, so the call is still the call. Free the people + Free the land + Free the future + by @futurisme.studio
