1964 @gibsonguitar Melody Maker

Modifications:
• @lollarpickups p-90
• @rs_guitarworks wiring harness
• @stewmac_guitar tuners
• Replaced “Tone knob”
• Moved strap button

This is my well loved ‘64 Melody Maker, aptly named “Athena” (the Goddess of War). She has been in a few battles for sure!
She has been my favorite guitar for a few years now. I have A/B her against other cool Les Paul/SG jr and I always end up preferring this feisty little Melody Maker 😈✨
I keep her at a consistent temperature so the setup stays pretty consistent and remarkably I don’t experience totally terrible intonation problems.😅

I purchased her for a great deal because the original single coil pickup & wiring harness was still installed but not functioning.
I like the idea of upgrading her with a genuine 1950s Gibson p-90 & wiring harness.

What do you think, is that worth the price & hassle? Or should I leave her as is?

💥New Pedal Day💥

• Prescription Electronics “Germ”

I’m really excited to have another Prescription Electronics pedal in the collection! The Germ is a dual boost/overdrive. And since I didn’t have either a boost or overdrive pedal in the collection, the Germ fulfills both needs in one enclosure. 😁
I love how both the boost side & overdrive side push my Marshall!
With the addition of an early Lee Jackson “Mr. Springgy” reverb unit (my favorite small format reverb pedal) the tones are wonderful!🤘🏼

Man these are both incredible sounding fuzz boxes!
The Tone Bender 1.5 is a classic fuzz circuit that we all know and love. But the Luxe 66 is such a cool and unique fuzz circuit that the magical wizards over at @isle_of_tone cooked up. The “Volume” and “Clarity” knobs act like a “volume” and “master volume” found on high wattage tube amps. This allows you to dial in setting on the Luxe 66 that range from a slight boost, to a beautiful overdrive, to a full on searing fuzz! And even at full fuzz potential you still get amazing “clean up” of the signal with the turn of your volume knob.

Today I want to show off 2 fuzzes that I no longer own but deeply miss and regret letting go.

• Prescription Electronics “Experience” serial #529
• Prescription Electronics “Overdriver” serial #123

Prescription Electronics is one of the first boutique fuzz brands I fell in love with! So Jack and his pedals have a special place in my heart. I don’t currently have any Prescription Electronics fuzzes in the collection, but of the many I’ve played (which are all great in their own way) these two particular units really stood out as magical! ✨

Like we all do, I sold both of them to fund other cool fuzz purchases. But man, I really want that Experience octave fuzz back, it had such a unique character to the fuzz tone that I’ve never been able to find again in another fuzz box. (even in a few other Experience fuzzes) #529 is truly a special unit that just has that magical, unexplainable “it factor”.

The most tragic part of this story is that the Overdriver was lost in transit to the buyer by the parcel service and never turned up. 😭 But that’s all part of the game.
