I found this camera this Friday, May 1st, at a flea market on Avenue Trudaine in the 9th arrondissement of Paris.

When I asked for the price, the gentleman told me: “It belongs to a friend of mine. He asked me to list it at 120€ and to let it go for 100€.”

After a very tough negotiation, I got it for 100€.

And with a roll of 120 film included, expired only two years ago.

It’s an iconic camera, used by Diane Arbus, Vivian Maier, Helmut Newton, among many others (and now by me too).

The Rolleiflex was introduced in 1929 and remained in production until 2015, although its golden age spans roughly from the 1930s to the 1970s.

Based on the serial number, mine was produced between 1932 and 1934, which places it among the early examples, out of more than two million units produced.

Stay tuned to see the results. I have no idea how it will look.
