The Gloria Dreams 2026 Scholarship Recipient, fueling a passion for architecture that bridges housing and food scarcity, is determined to become the change we wish to see in the future.

"The mission of Fuel to Thrive is to eliminate student hunger by creating a reliable, stigma-free food access system that supports the academic success and well-being of high school students. This initiative is compelling because it addresses a critical overlooked issue student’s face while struggling to focus, participate, and succeed due to lack of consistent access to food. The community should commit to this initiative because investing in students needs is an investment in the future. When students are nourished, they are better equipped to perform academically, engage socially, and contribute positively to their environment. This will allow for the development of collaboration among schools, families, nonprofits, and local businesses, creating a unified effort to support youth.

Additionally, this program promotes long-term change by encouraging healthy eating habits and reducing the stigma surrounding food assistance programs. By combining awareness, accessibility, and community partnership, this initiative creates a sustainable solution rather than a temporary fix".

"My mission is to reduce stigma and increase access to mental health support for students, especially within the African American community, by combining culturally aware education with peer-led engagement. In many Black communities, mental health isn’t openly discussed due to historical mistrust, cultural expectations of strength, and fear of judgment. My work is rooted in changing that narrative.

After the loss of my volleyball teammate, I saw how grief and silence affected my peers. Through co-founding the Psychology Club, I’ve already seen the impact of creating a safe space for conversation. As President, I lead weekly peer discussions on anxiety, depression, and academic burnout, while partnering with the school counselor to connect students with resources. Students have become more open, supportive, and willing to check in on one another".

If you had told me this woman wouldn’t be here to wish me a happy birthday this year, I would have dismissed it as impossible. I would have confidently given her your number so she could tell you to “take the holy angels with you.” My grandmother was the driving force behind my journey, and without her, there would have been no Howard University and certainly no Ms. G's Acts, which began as the Glory Project, in her honor. I remember leaving class at Douglass Hall to tell her about the initiative, organizing several events, including making my best friend showcase his math skills at a local school.

Losing my dad last year was incredibly painful, particularly realizing that I would never hear his voice again. I'm grateful that I have something to hold onto. While this isn’t the voicemail I wanted, it warms my heart to hear her voice again. by @g.classacts
