I told myself when I started going to the gym two years ago that when I reached a point where I loved my body again, I would make this post. This isn’t to make anyone feel bad, but just a reminder to be mindful of the words you choose. So here we go.

Growing up, I was always smaller, mostly due to my metabolism and playing sports. Around my senior year, and a little after, I lost some weight due to life circumstances. It was during that time that the comments started. All my life, people have told me, “You need to eat more,” or “You need a cheeseburger, girl,” and so on. But if you really know me, you’d know that I love to eat all the time. 🤣

The comments shifted to things like, “Wow, you look so tiny,” or “If you lose any more weight, you’re going to float away.” I remember these comments came when I was wearing leggings, which made me insecure about wearing tight clothing that emphasized my size even more. My metabolism has always made it easy to lose weight but very hard to gain it back.

Fast forward a couple of years: I gained the weight back, but then I started dealing with issues related to my vagus nerve, which caused me to lose the weight again. I hated how tiny I had become, and the comments started up once more. So, I decided to finally get into the gym to gain weight and learn to love myself again.

I’m proud to say I’ve consistently kept 10 more pounds on than before, which may not seem like a lot to some, but for me, it’s a gold star. 😊

My point in saying all of this is to remind people to think before they speak. Just because someone is skinny or tiny doesn’t mean they want to be. You never know what circumstances they might be dealing with. Just a reminder to be kind. 🤍 by @g.conklin
