You don't have to be extravagant to lose track of your money.

Small expenses can add up, especially when you make them without checking what you've already spent.

The problem isn't always how much you earn. Sometimes, you simply don't have a clear picture of where your money goes.

Can you account for your spending since your last payday?

Happy new month!

If we haven't met before, hi, I'm Kevwe🤗

I've realised that I talk a lot about work, growth and figuring life out, but I don't always stop to introduce the person behind all of that.

So, here's a little peek into me.

I'm still figuring things out too. I'm learning, trying new things, making mistakes, changing my mind and growing along the way.

And yes, you'll probably see a lot more of me around here.

If you're new here, tell me something about yourself too.

Have you ever worked so hard on something that you expected someone to notice, only to realise nobody even knew what you had done?

#HR #WorkplaceTips #CareerGrowth #GenZProfessional by @g.i.f.t.e

A lot of young professionals want to grow, change jobs, become better at what they do or position themselves for opportunities.

But when you ask them what they need help with, they say, "I don't even know where to start."

And that's understandable.

Sometimes, you know something isn't working, but you can't identify the actual problem.

So, let's make this easier.

What's one thing about your career or workplace that you're currently struggling to figure out?

It could be job applications, workplace relationships, communication, career direction, professional growth or something else.

Drop it in the comments and you'll get a response.

Please share with someone you know may have a question.

If you work hard, your employer will reward you?

Nah!

You arrive early. You stay late. You take on extra responsibilities. You always make sure the work gets done.

Yet, when a promotion or salary increase comes up, your name is missing.

What happened?

Many of us assume that because we are working hard, our value is obvious.

So we keep taking on more work without asking:
- Are my contributions being recognised?
- Do my responsibilities match my position?
- Am I growing in the direction I want?

Hard work matters. And yes, some workplaces fail to reward people fairly. That is real. But even in good ones, effort alone is rarely enough.

Have you ever seen this happen to someone, or experienced it yourself?

Happy New Week kids!🤎 by @g.i.f.t.e

Looking back at my first official role after NYSC, I can see how much that experience stretched me.

I almost quit before I'd even given myself a chance to settle in.

The responsibilities felt overwhelming, and I questioned whether I was really qualified to be there.

But I went back the next day. And the next.

I didn't suddenly become confident overnight. I had to learn, adjust and grow into the role.

I'm glad I gave myself that chance.

Looking back, I wonder how many opportunities we might walk away from because the beginning makes us question ourselves.

I'm not saying every difficult situation is one you must stay in. But sometimes, the discomfort of being new is not a sign that you're in the wrong place.

Sometimes, you're still learning how to stand in it.

Have you ever wanted to quit something before you'd even given yourself a proper chance?

Getting a job offer is exciting. Especially when you've been searching for a while.

But please, don't let the excitement make you overlook the details.

Before you accept, make sure you understand what you're signing up for.

What will your responsibilities be? Who will you report to? What are the working arrangements? What exactly is included in your offer?

If anything is unclear, ask questions before accepting.

It is better to seek clarification now than to discover that you and your employer had different expectations after you resume.

Have you ever received a job offer that came with an unexpected condition?

Happy New Month!

Wrote this a while ago when all the Rave about all that is wrong with Nigeria was on, and today is a good day to say it.

Any time you get the urge to speak negatively about Nigeria, resist it.

Whether we like it or not, our words frame the reality that we see. I'm not saying that you should disregard the things going on in this nation.

But sometimes, we overdo and end up causing more harm than good with our mouths. Besides, who talking help? And before you start arguing with your keyboard, how has talking helped you?

Remember that we're all Nigerians, what we really want will start when you and I decide to make the change not talk about it. Action! Not demeaning and putting down words.

Words are spiritual. Use them carefully.

Happy Independence Day Giant of Africa 🇳🇬 by @g.i.f.t.e

This happens to more people than we realise.

You get a call from a recruiter and you sound uninterested.

You respond to an email days later.

You speak rudely to someone because you don't think they are important.

You go into an interview without knowing the role you applied for.

You send a message that could have been written more clearly.

None of these things are about whether you can do the actual job.

But communication is part of how people experience you.

And many times, that experience affects whether the opportunity moves forward.

Your skills matter.

How you communicate those skills matters too.
