Just a funny little observation about the Arcus controversy. Imagine putting so much time, money, and effort into launching a new project, only for the marketing to revolve so heavily around its alleged connection to Sleep Token that it overshadows the music itself. Whether or not the intention was to capitalize on Sleep Token’s success, using that association is certainly an effective way to get people talking. But attention and respect are two very different things. For context, Tom Quigley has been associated with Sleep Token’s early development and has reportedly described himself as a co-creator and lead designer. However, his early involvement doesn’t necessarily mean he was responsible for the band’s later success, and the theory that Arcus was created out of spite remains speculation rather than established fact. The irony is that a marketing strategy intended to generate interest may have instead left people questioning the project’s intentions before giving the music a fair chance. And if the speculation about the people behind Arcus is accurate, attempting to rebuild a reputation through an association with a band that has grown far beyond its early beginnings seems like a particularly risky move. At the end of the day, the music should speak for itself. If Arcus has something genuinely worthwhile to offer, it should be able to stand on its own merits without leaning so heavily on Sleep Token’s name. Because if your introduction to the world is controversy surrounding another band rather than your own music, you might have already lost control of the narrative. #sleeptoken #arcus #music #worship #news by @g.nelson.06
