OUR DRAG SHOW OF SORROWS 🥀

thank you so much to everyone who came out to the emo show of our dreams :’). this was such a beautiful night!!!!!

thank you to @nightmaremav for working sound, to our lovely kitten @cheetahquila, to our wonderful door person @hautiewheels, and last but not least, thank you @pinkmetalnyc for cultivating such a home for us.

disabled people are not commodities and mobility aids are not props.

it is never okay to put an able bodied person in a wheelchair. it is isolating and dehumanizing to see this become a pattern.

drag is about subversiveness. it’s about making safe spaces for us to dance & resist. but we can’t dance if there isn’t room for everyone. if there’s still room for mockery of disabled people.

mobility aids are not props. they’re an extension of my body. thank you @august__honey for speaking so candidly about this.

JULY 5. 7:30PM. MEDUSA BAR BK.

ID: a colorful flyer. paint strokes jut into the page and curve upwards. a drawing of a wheelchair in the middle of the arc. center words read: “JENEDIANS, Disability Drag Revue.”

ID(2). Ginger Ail sits in darkness. a projection of a brain MRi scan swells over them and begins to dictate their body language. it swells in a bright light, and cuts out.

ACCESSIBILITY AND COVID:
Closest accessible subway station is the Lorimer St L train stop.
Please check all elevator status prior to trek. From there, the spot is 4 streets away towards south. This is estimated as a 7 minute walk on the sidewalk. Front door to the bar is accessible but no automatic opening. Medusa has a cobblestone floor in one area near the bar. There is a fully accessible bathroom with room for two wheelchairs and transfer bars on the wall. The back patio is has 2-3 steps in order to access it. Please DM @hautiewheels for seating requests and knowledge of where to store mobility devices.
Masks are REQUIRED for this event. If you are sick, please stay home.
Please test for covid before and after the event.

TW: skin being stretched by clothespins 🧷🧷🧷

a photoshoot about the relationship i’ve grown to have with my body, specifically my stretchy skin (thank you hEDS) and sideshow. my body has become a form of play. sometimes i rehearse in bed when experiencing physical limitations. i love how my body has become a form of wonder through drag and sideshow.
