A London Street Tree (Winter Cherry) - This tree grows outside my local supermarket and has been flowering since early November. The cultivar ‘Autumnalis’ was introduced to Britain in 1900 (Autumnalis’ of the hybrid Spring Cherry (Prunus x subhirtella) which originated in Japan but is unknown in the wild). Despite the frost and snow it still has lots of new flowers ❄️ #femme_eyes #petal_perfection #flora_addict #macroart #macro_trouble_pastel #macromood #flora_addict #soft_pastel_touches #the_gallery_of_magic #dof_of_our_world #bokeh_artistic #bokeh_addicts #softness_and_lovely #angelsandflowers #elysian_efflorescence by @g1nnytoo

The beautiful Icelandic Horse is the only horse breed in the world that can perform two extra gaits (ways of walking). Other horse breeds can perform three or four (walk, trot, canter and gallop). The extra gaits that set the Icelandic horse apart from other breeds are called Tölt and Flying Pace. Tölt is the unique four-beat lateral gait that the breed is best known for. The flying pace is the “fifth gear”, offering a two-beat lateral movement with suspension. Not all Icelandic horses can pace, but those that manage all five gaits well are considered the best of the breed.
The extra gaits are natural and new-born foals frequently show them right from the start. Most Icelandic horses are five-gaited, meaning they possess all five gaits, while some are considered four-gaited and lack the flying pace. There is a genetic variation that all gaited horse breeds have in common, which allows them to reach high speeds in a given gait without breaking into canter and gives them the smooth lateral movements. Five-gaited Icelandic horses always have this gene from both parents, as do some of the four-gaited horses. Some only have the gene from one parent, making them a pure four-gaiter which does not offer flying pace #femme_eyes #iceland #amateurphotography #landoffireandice #horsesofinstagram #icelandichorse #icelandichorses #horseportraits #ethereal_moods #soft_pastel_touches #icelandnature #icelandphotography #naturelovers #horsesoficeland by @g1nnytoo

Autumn Vibes - Juvenile red deer. Richmond Park is home to around 300 red deer. King Charles I enclosed the area of Richmond Park with an eight-mile brick wall in 1637 to create a private red and fallow deer park after moving his court to Richmond Palace to escape the plague #femme_eyes #depth_of_detail #soft_pastel_touches #richmondpark #reddeer by @g1nnytoo

Wild Carrot - The solitary dark central flower mimics a trapped insect. Real insects see this and fly down to investigate, landing on the cluster and pollinating the plant. When the seeds mature, the umbrella-shaped flower head curls inward to form a concave shape that resembles a tiny bird’s nest. Eventually, the dried seed heads snap off and roll across the ground as tumbleweeds to scatter their hooked seeds.
The aromatic leaves and seeds of wild carrots were grown in the royal gardens of Babylon as far back as the 8th century BC #femme_eyes #depth_of_detail #soft_pastel_touches #wild_flowers #petal_perfection by @g1nnytoo

One of the most beautiful sights in English nature is a bluebell woodland and the white stars of wood anemones. Both species are ancient woodland indicators. #depth_of_detail #femme_eyes #magical_bokeh #soft_pastel_touches #wild_flowers by @g1nnytoo

The blue wood anemone is a spring-flowering perennial with several unique characteristics.
The presence of blue wood anemone colonies often indicates that a woodland is ancient—meaning it has existed continuously for over 400 years. They are extremely slow to spread, moving only about six feet in a hundred years.
While the typical wood anemone is white, blue forms (such as var. caerulea) are rarer in the wild. #femme_eyes #depth_of_detail #soft_pastel_touches #wild_flowers #macro_perfection by @g1nnytoo
