A MASTER AND A STUDENT OF THE GAME

Yesterday, we sat in the Queens sun, shared laughs, and talked craft. But today, we celebrate more than just a 50+ year photographic legacy—we celebrate life.

Thank you for the laughs, the wisdom, the brotherhood, and the profound reminder of what truly matters. Here’s to your health, Ken, and to many more years of capturing the culture. 🖤🙏🏾✨

Ken the Photographer

We talked photography. Looked through years of contacts, old photographs and stories behind the frames. Then I got to photograph the photographer.

Some encounters remind you why you picked a camera in the first place

WHAT I SAW IN “I NEED YOU”
@g3rdy

After releasing the music video, I wanted to revisit the film from my perspective as its writer-director—not to explain what viewers must see, but to share the story I saw while creating it.

“I Need You” contains two narratives unfolding inside the same universe.

In one, ZSoul is reaching across the distance toward a woman with whom he shares an unresolved relationship. In the other, he is reaching toward the future he wants as an artist trying to make it out of New York.

The woman is real. Their relationship is real. At the same time, their connection mirrors the process of pursuing a dream: attraction, uncertainty, hope, rejection and the decision to keep reaching.

The two-time Golden Gloves winner behind the bodega counter represents a gifted man whose original dream never became his future. The cigarette becomes temporary relief. The subway represents movement without a guaranteed destination. Far Rockaway is where the journey begins. Manhattan holds the scale of the ambition. The bridge and water carry the distance between New York and Atlanta—between two people and between an artist’s present reality and the future he is pursuing.

She hides. He searches.
She reveals herself. He reaches.
She pulls away.

The relationship remains unresolved. So does the dream.

Two worlds, one spirit. Born in the soil of Oaxaca, carried by the strength of our ancestors. This is more than a toast; it’s a bridge between where we come from and where we are going. 🇭🇹🤞🏾🇲🇽
