Promoter. Guinness connoisseur. Birmingham, born and bred.

George Hadley, founder of Sum Cellar and Brum Tropicana, is one of a community of people keeping Birmingham ticking weekend to weekend, pushing the culture forward and celebrating Brum to the fullest.

We met up with him in Digbeth to see where it all started, find out what that drive to push your city forward is all about, and sample a few in the Big Bulls Head while we were at it.

Without Digbeth I probably would’ve remained a confused soul, not knowing where I wanted to put my energy.

I love music. I love community. I love people. And they don’t really teach you that in school. Just some algebra and How to Kill a Mockingbird.

But Digbeth gave me a place to explore, create, connect and find my purpose. It shouldn’t be taken away from those younger than us, they shouldn’t miss out on those opportunities and experiences.

SAVE DIGBETH. SAVE BIRMINGHAM.
SAVE CULTURE. SAVE COMMUNITY. SAVE PUBS. SAVE ART. SAVE YOUR MATES. SAVE EVERYONE ‼️

REST IN POWER, BUXLEY. 🕊️❤️

This one has been difficult to take. A true leader. Someone who uplifts and inspires others. A warrior and a gentleman.

Thank you for your inspiration, your kindness, your guidance, and your words of wisdom over the years.

When we worked together on the Community Routes projects, I was genuinely mesmerised by how organised, clinical, direct, supportive, and professional you were. You brought such a level of care and excellence to everything you did. I felt truly inspired in your presence. When Buxley spoke you listened. I loved that. You joined me on my Sigil Radio show and I was almost a shell of myself because I just enjoyed listening to you talk and articulate what you did in a way that I could never.

You helped me put so much into perspective. You told me to stop beating myself up and to celebrate what I was doing, the journey and everything that came with it, the challenges, the good times, and those words have stayed with me.

Birmingham has lost a true legend.

Thank you for everything, Buxley. 👑

Super Cup final - Aston Villa vs PSG

Me and the old fella missed out on Istanbul but it was great to go to such an incredible city and watch Villa put on a great performance.

It was great to see so many faces as well, that’s what it’s all about!

Also it was a pleasure to of asked @mr_m_social to DJ at the fanzone. Consider it an early birthday present mate 🥳.
