Sacrifices ,loneliness, pain, REPEAT… although these are all harsh words to some, to me it just describes a guy that leaves his family behind to go chase his dream. Leaving the ones you love isn’t the easiest task in the world. Specially when that task in hand lies in another country. One day you leave, and when you come back so much has changed. I’ve found myself feeling like what once was my home isn’t home anymore, and I’m left but to wonder, “how much have I missed”. Sometimes too much really. Easy to forget why you do what you do. Easy to forget what the whole purpose of leaving home was. When you do so, you tend to make mistakes, fall into the wrong crowds, give in to temptation and perhaps not let go of things you should’ve left in the past. All of that I’ve done over the past 4 years. I’ve gained a lot, but I’ve also lost a lot. It’s a matter of carrying both the winners trophy and the participation trophy, but nonetheless you’ll always learn from each and every experience. These experiences drift you apart from what you’re really trying to go for in life, and sometimes loosing love for what it is you used to love. In my case? BASEBALL. I owe a lot to this simple game. This game has provided me with some of the best people I have ever met, life lessons and it’s fair share of heartbreaks aswell, and to all of that I am grateful. Therefore I owe the game nothing but the best of my abilities every-time I suit up. I’ve fallen in love with the process once more, just as I once did when I was just a kid. Hungrier than ever to strive towards the same goal I’ve had for pretty much my whole life. Nevertheless reliant on God and guided by him and only him, will I find calm in the storm. This isn’t a post to alert anybody or to give out any negative energy to anyone thinking I am someone that I’m not. I’m simply a man who has cried a lot, cared a lot and worked a lot to be where I am today. Time to make every penny well spent. For all the sacrifices and the ones we’ve lost.

From being a kid dreaming about this game with my grandpa in a very small garage in Puerto Rico, to walking off the field for the last time… Boy time has flown

I gave this game everything I had. Every inning behind the plate, every bruise, every lift, every late night bus ride. And somehow, it still feels like it wasn’t enough time. I’ll never forget that last series…playing for something bigger than myself, trying to squeeze every last moment out of a game I wasn’t ready to let go of.

Baseball gave me brothers. It gave me purpose. It gave me memories I’ll carry for the rest of my life. This game tested me, built me, and never promised anything, but just as it gave me a few negative outcomes at times, it also gave me everything.

Thank you to everyone who was part of my journey… especially the ones who believed in me even when sometimes I didn’t believe in myself at all…
