Hey everyone!
I have some exciting news to share with all of you! Over the last several weeks I have been involved in the process of applying for a DTS (Discipleship Training School) through YWAM (Youth with a Mission). This program is a six-month training where I will gain practical knowledge and applicable strategies to serve the nations through my work in Public Health. This past month I was accepted to the Fire and Fragrance program in Kona, Hawaii!
This program is made up of multiple focuses including Missions through fitness and exercise, Restorative justice work, and community development. If you would like to learn more about the program you can go to their website here https://ywamkona.org/dts_courses/fire-fragrance/.
The timeline of this program is split into two parts. The first phase is a four-month classroom lecture phase that will take place at the base in Kona.
The second phase is where we put our knowledge to the test. The members of this program will go on outreach to a location that will be determined during our lecture phase. We will spend two months in the field doing hands on mission’s work and applying the prior knowledge we have gained.
As is true of other missions’ experiences, the first part of this one is prayer support. I would deeply appreciate prayer for:
a) God to work in me to be an instrumental part of His work
b) God to help me to trust Him as I travel, engage new cultures, raise support, and face new challenges
c) God to help me catch a vision for how to use my college degree, life experiences, and interests to further His work.
The second part of my preparation is to raise funds for my time in Kona which will cover travel, food, housing, and excursions for the duration of the sixth month program. I will be contributing my own funds as well toward the initial travel costs and other essentials.
