We’ve never really done a proper introduction on this page, so it felt like time. This is Gabe, and this is his story.

At 6 months old he started having seizures, terrifying doesn’t even cover it. That led to a West Syndrome diagnosis, and then to something even bigger. Doctors found a brain injury, and believe he may have had a stroke before he was even born. 💛

His diagnosis is PVL, CVI, and Hypotonic CP. We were told a lot of things in those early years. That he might not walk. Might not talk. We held onto hope anyway.
And he proved every single one of them wrong. 🙌🏼

This page is for him and for you, when he was first diagnosed I couldn’t find the other families, so this page was made. Thanks for being here. 🧡

This morning we said goodbye to our Larry. He was 12.

He arrived around the time we received Gabe’s diagnosis. That was a season of real grief for our family, full of fear and unknowns. Somehow this little pug, who had no idea how heavy everything felt, made it all a bit lighter just by being himself. I don’t think it was a coincidence that he came to us exactly when he did.

When Gabe started learning to crawl, Larry’s double coat made things tricky, and as Larry got older, travelling got harder for him too. So he went to live with his Nanny and Papa, and they adored him. Our hearts are with them today, because this loss is theirs too.

Thank you for being exactly what we needed, Larry. Zen will be there to meet you on the other side of the rainbow bridge, and you’ll always be part of this family.

The day we were given Gabe’s diagnosis was the hardest of our lives. I remember the room, the words, and the quiet that followed when everything we had planned for him had to be rethought.

I won’t pretend it didn’t break us a little. It did. But it’s also where we started learning how to fight for him, and where I learned what real strength looks like.

Disabled children are called financial burdens. But stadiums nobody asked for? Defence contracts that blow out by billions? That’s just the cost of doing business.

The problem was never the money. It’s who they think deserves it. Fix the fraud, don’t boot children from accessing essential services!
