Every choice carries a weight.
I am currently painting The Weight of Choice, part of my ongoing series, The Chessboard of Life.

The rose represents love, vulnerability, and the courage to make a choice without knowing where it may lead.
The chessboard represents the circumstances we navigate, the decisions before us, and the consequences that follow every move.
Through this series, I explore the choices, emotions, relationships, and uncertainties that shape the human experience.
This is more than a painting of a moment. It is a reflection on what it means to stand before a decision and choose your next move.

What happens when the heart has to make a move?

I am sharing my latest work, The Heart Makes Its Move, created in 2026 as part of my ongoing series, The Chessboard of Life.

Through the figure, the red rose, and the chessboard pattern, I explore the relationship between emotion, choice, vulnerability, and consequence.

The woman’s hand rests across her chest while her gaze turns away, creating a moment of quiet reflection.
The question behind the work is simple:
When life places us before difficult choices, do we follow strategy, emotion, or both?

I would love to hear how other artists and art lovers interpret the relationship between the heart and the chessboard in this piece.

Every move tells a story. Every decision shapes the journey.
In this work, the chessboard becomes a reflection of life, where every choice carries a consequence, every moment demands thought, and every move brings us closer to who we are becoming.
Art is not just what we see. Sometimes, it is what we discover within ourselves.
What does this painting make you feel?

Before the world sees the masterpiece, there is a moment when nobody is watching.
An emerging African artist stands before the chessboard, contemplating his next move, while the Mona Lisa reminds him of the legacy he hopes to create.

Still painting, still unfolding the story.
This work is currently in progress, and every layer continues to bring the idea closer to completion.
The painting explores identity, culture, decision making, and the complex moves we make through life. The chessboard serves as a metaphor for the choices we make, the circumstances we face, and the consequences that follow.

I am currently open to art galleries, curators, collectors, exhibition opportunities, collaborations, and art lovers interested in contemporary African art and figurative painting.
If you are a gallery, curator, collector, or art enthusiast interested in this work or would like to discuss an exhibition opportunity, I would be glad to connect.

Work in progress. More to come.

A glimpse into the process. Painting the Mona Lisa as part of a new story about art, identity, legacy, and the future.
